Campus Carry May Get New Life in Senate
Lawmakers plan to attach so-called “campus carry” legislation as an amendment to House Bill 910 as it leaves the Senate, state Rep. Allen Fletcher, R-Cypress, confirmed Wednesday.

“I believe that [Sens. Craig] Estes and [Brian] Birdwell and [Lt. Gov. Dan] Patrick are going to pass it over here, send it back over to us and we’ll concur,” Fletcher, who is carrying the measure in the House, said as he walked out of the Senate chamber Wednesday. “It will be a lot easier than having to fight the fight over on the [House] floor.”

Is this confirmed??

Given that the open carry bill already touches on campus carry (it bans open carry on campus), it seems hard to argue that amending the bill to allow concealed carry on campus is non-germane.

I guess the only way to kill licensed open carry is to attach something even
more controversial to the bill. Is that what's going on here ?

Move open carry now, please. Let's at least get that done. Hell, I just ordered
a new gunbelt.

I'd rather be able to carry more places legally than advertise to people that I'm carrying... That's just me though. Campus carry and HB308 mean worlds more to me than open carry. Would open carry be nice? Yeah. Should we be able to open carry? Yeah. Should I be legally disarmed on a public state owned college campus in Texas? No.

Committee sub. for HB 937.

Looks to me like all the amendments that were shot down were added to the committee report.

I already had a good belt, but ordered a fancy dress up holster for church, in anticipation. I really don't plan to open carry, but if I do, I want to be fashionable!

The House parlimentarian already ruled it to be germane when Rep. Fletcher offered it as a floor amendment to HB910. (He withdrew it for reasons I can't disclose.)

It's not a move to kill open-carry; it's a move to pass campus-carry that will save lives.

If I understand correctly, HB910 coming back from the Senate with the Campus Carry amendment has to be brought to the entire House for a vote on the new amendment, it can't be parked in a committee to die? And no other (new) amendments can be considered? Just yea or nay on the Campus Carry amendment, and if nay, then maybe to Conference Committee?
