I have sort of wanted to do this for awhile because I never see it anywhere on there internet. People can say there is a reason for that all they want but I feel there needs to be a "carry on a budget" tutorial. It would be cool if it even became a sticky as an introduction to the page, but I wont get ahead of myself. Why do I want to do this? Well when I first got my CHL I paid everything and while waiting for things didn't play out how I intended and I could not afford a 80.00+ holster and a 50.00+ belt. Everywhere I looked everyone recommended all kinds of expensive items to others including myself. I swear on one forum if you didn't carry in a Milt Sparks VMII you were as good as trash.

Anyways. I am still not quite financially able to get a cross breed, a comp-tac. a galco king tuk, and a desantis intruder. Why these 4? They seem to be the main ones out there everyone gets familiar with quickest. There are millions of holster makers out there making holsters exactly like this for lower prices etc. I know the list could get endless. I would like to try and show people that a gun can be carried to protect yourself and your family without spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

Personally for me I started out carrying in a thicker walmart belt with an uncle mikes 10.00 holster. Currently I carry in a desantis intruder with a wilderness frequent flyer belt.

I have a couple other Desantis holsters and will be getting a king tuk sometime soon. If anyone lives in Mckinney or would like to mail a holster or belt for me to add to this project please let me know. I am doing this on my time and and expecting nothing in return other then hopefully helping people out on a budget.

The format I am going to do this may be a video. I have a 1080i Sony digital video camera my wife kept saying she wanted so badly. I bought it and it just sits there. I aim (no pun intended) to use that.

Again my intention is not to dissuade people from any particular purchase of a particular brand. I just see people mentioning a budget on the internet and a billion people posting things way over that budget. Holsters being one of those things. Just thinking out loud. I visit and post in a lot of forums. However, I would prefer to do this here, if it happens at all. As I consider this my "internet home away from".

This is a good idea. I would like to add my .02 cents without stepping on toes. I believe (IMO) you need a quality belt, and from my experience you will need one of these, therefore I have owned many belts and my business goes to BULLHIDEBELTS (cost about 73$) yes a little expensive but worth it.

Holsters

After owning many holsters and carrying them, for the features, price, warranty and shipping times and customer service my business will go to (ALIEN GEAR HOLSTERS) 29.88$ and free replacement kydex if you change guns.

So all in all a little over 100$ for a quality belt and holster. I had these products at my door step within 2 weeks from ordering and they have been carried daily.

Your not stepping on toes at all. I only mentioned the bigger names I could think of because they are sort of everywhere you look IMO. I just yesterday found out about Alien Gear. I couldn't agree more about a belt. The Wilderness belt I have makes it pretty much possible to carry in any holster with additional items. I paid 40.00 plus shipping but I had other items in the cart.

To be honest I can't find anyone that makes exactly what I am looking for in a holster at the moment. A 1.5 single clip tuckable kydex holster with a padded back vs leather. Preferably with an optional C clip.

the only padded one I know of is...

http://www.firearmholster.com/

These start at around $50. It is a leather/kydex hybrid with a neoprene layer covered with a fleece layer on the back sides. It can be worn OWB or IWB. He's a homegrown outfit. Gavin was laid off last Fall and started doing the holsters while looking for a new job. His business has taken off from the looks of it. Everyone I have seen that got one from him loves it. You pick the leather color and stitching color.

I will have to check him out I may ask him to send some pics of the outside of the holster and ask if he can do C clips. I have heard of people ordering C clips from Comp-tac that fit other holsters Thanks very much for the reply

I forget the name, but MidwayUSA sells a holster made of a tacky material that is designed to slide behind the belt. I had been using it for my XDS. There are other "cheap" holster options.

From what I have seen, most fitted holsters are not all that cheap unless you have common pistol type like a 1911.

As far as a good belt, that is mainly for comfort and ease of use.
