Alien Gear Holsters REVIEW

Lets me start out by saying I know there are a lot of questions about Alien Gear Vs. the other Competetors. I was one of the people on the side of it took my order longer to arrive than normal. I stayed in contact with Alien Gear service department each day or every other day and had clear communication. I have been carrying my Crossbreed Super tuck for over a month now daily for atleast 4-6 hours daily. I have also done everything possible to break it in perfectly. I do like my Crossbreed but for the money of the Alien Gear I had to try it out.

Day 1.

The holster arrived today at 11am. Since I am off all week (we had a baby, Its a GIRL) I got to start examining it early. I took it out and gave it a good look over and compared it to my broke in Crossbreed. They are very similar in size and shape. After I compared them I took it apart. They send a bag of extra screws and washers so I decieded to do some swapping and find my perfect fit. The leather is a higher quality leather. The keydex is shaped better and thicker than the competition. I thought since the leather was thicker and the keydex was thicker it would stick out more and be bulkier. WRONG it fit like a glove.

Who has ever broke in a baseball glove? You will understand exactly what I am talking about.

I took everything off of it and took every gromet out. I started bending the leather to break it in. I worked the leather over for about a hour solid while watching the tragic news today. (another topic) I got to a place where I felt the leather was broke in better than my Crossbreed. Very flimsy but firm and very well shaped.

I put all the gromets back in and put thr clips back in and put the keydex back on and I found what tension worked better for me. I put the middle size washers and smaller screws on the top if the Keydex and the smaller screws with no washers on the bottom and took the washers out of the clips and replaced it with shorter screws. PERFECT fit for me. I also ordered a KEYDEX for my G19 which is my primary EDC.

I put the holster on and went out shopping. Needless to say I hardly noticed the holster at all. (Those who say its not there or they cant notice, We all know its there and we all feel it but who and what makes us feel it less) The holster fit perfect and it rode nice, the clips are strong and the leather was formed to me already after me working it. I am going to adjust the ride height for tomorrow but everything else was screaming, WHY DID YOU EVERY BUY ANOTHER HOLSTER?

I am very pleased with my holster and the service they offered. ALIEN GEAR AAAAA++++++++

PROS-
stronger keydex
upgraded leather
adjustable tension
extra parts
changable keydex
awesome fit
brown leather (standard)

CONS-
leather is rough on the back on the skin (i am going to sand this down) the only CON

Needless to say I am more than happy with my holster and I will recommend this to anyone, It doesnt matter if you have carried for 20 years or 2 days, this holster and company turn out a quality product at a LOW LOW LOW cost!

Great review and thanks for sharing. I get mine on Monday.... finally. I was a little frustrated by how long it took to get a shipment #. But I have heard nothing but good reviews and can't wait to try mine out. I called and emailed as well and the customer service people were very nice and apologetic for taking so long so I will let it slide if the holster is as good as everyone has said it is.

Agree, good review and ditto on conclusions. My AlienGear backside leather was as smooth as a baby's behind, and wouldn't have bothered me if not, as I wear an undershirt most times when carrying.

For IWB holsters I've settled on two companies - AlienGear and Kholster, both quality products at reasonable pricing. For Texas summer I prefer the Kholster as it gives the best coverage between body and carry weapon - absolutely no portion of gun contact with body oil or sweat. However, you cannot beat the price, versatility and quality of the AlienGear holsters - and I've owned some of those expensive holsters - while good and adequate, not worth the expense.

Thanks for the review! Always enjoy first hand experience. My only "concern" with their holsters is I would put kydex clips on them. The steel clips are hard on my thick gunbelt, making cut marks very quickly. I may have to try one out soon as my current holster is very sweat stained, and a girl needs a "Sunday go to meetin'" holster and a "yard work holster" right?

I am really rough on my holsters, i love that this one broke in so easily. I have a BullBelt and its rather thick and all my steel clips put mark on them. I enjoy the marks as it serves for LZ for my holster slips. They remind me of scars and every scar has a story. I had kydex clips before and did not enjoy them at all. I suppose I didn't feel as sturdy with them. Hey you gotta have a yard work holster! My Crossbreed has been promoted to yard work.

I sanded the back down this AM and its now 100% perfect. Smooth!!
