Not reviewing a holster but rather a holster maker. I recently purchased a D M Bullard side guard holster for my M&P compact from a local retailer. I love the design, hold the gun tight to my body, has a sweat shield (I'm a sweater), wonderful quality leather, overall fantastic if you want to carry a little far back owb.

So, I begin using the holster and notice an oily substance on my pistol, I wipe it off and go about my day. I usually run my m&p darn near dry but whats a little oil ever hurt regarding firearms. Well, one night I unholster and rack my slide and notice that my slid has a considerable amount of resistance as it returns to battery. Uh oh, my first thought was that this seemingly innocuous stuff is gumming up my gun and that is no bueno, it could really affect reliability.

I break the gun down and sure enough, this oil has migrated to the internals and gummed them up. I immediately sent an email to D M Bullard about my situation and quickly got a response stating it could be a vegetable oil they use to affix their leather stain. I was told that I could send it in or just come to the shop and we would take care of it.

I opted to come by, as I live in far north Fort Worth and their shop is in Azle, not far from me.

Their shop is exactly what you'd hope it would be, and in a nice country setting. I gave them the holster and they apologized and showed me how they occasionally get a little over oiled. I was given a new holster which is perfect.

I received great service which I was hopeing for, as this is a quality holster and the maker is local and has a good reputation. I just felt that I should pass this info along, it's so hard to find good local outfits these days. I will definitely be acquiring more of their leather, I'm thinking something in shark.

I noticed some oil residue on my Browning Hi-Power when my Bullard holster was new. Nothing to the extent you describe but there was some surface oil residue when it was new.

Dave Bullard is a nice guy, and I've also had good experience with his service.

I had a DM Bullard Dual Carry for my M&Pc but had no problem with residue. I liked the holster and quailty of construction but ended up moving to something that carried a little further forward for me.

He makes good holsters and I would consider another if I needed it.

I recommend a tour. Like I said, there was something comforting about their setup. If I was adept in leather craft, it's exactly the kinda place I could see myself. It's nice to know where your dollars go to.
