New 1911
Well, I broke down and did it. Always wanted a 1911 and found a great deal on a Para GI Expert in stainless. I usually carry a Glock 23 (IWB & OWB), but know that a lot of folks are able to carry a full size 1911 pretty easily. Looking for holster suggestions once I'm trough my break in period and feel comfortable with its reliability. I'm 6' 2" and am fairly thin, so I was thinking of either a IWB kydex with leather backing (like the MTAC or Galco King Tuk) or a leather belt slide holster (almost vertical) at SOB. I'm in South Texas, so I'm in shorts a t-shirts 11 1/2 months out of the year. I know there's plenty of pro-1911 forum members out there, so I'm anxious to hear how everyone carries. Appreciate any recommendations and love all the experience in this forum! Thanks everyone!

Re: New 1911
I've got 2 holsters I use for my 1911s. One is a Galco SOB and the other is an El Paso Saddlery High Slide. I've used them both with a full size Kimber Stainless II and a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II. They are very comfortable and easy to conceal. I've not had an IWB holster for a 1911, so no recommendations there I'm afraid.

For owb I use this holster QS-BTP from http://jeffreycustomleather.com/Conceal ... sters.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For iwb I use these holsters http://www.shieldedholsters.com/inventory/item.php?id=7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Super ... spx#dd-iwb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
All are excellent holsters.

I use a Comp-Tac Minotaur to carry my 1911 IWB, and a Comp-Tac paddle holster to carry it OWB at the range.

@ dleiwig, we want pictures !! You will love your new pistol. I carry OWB in a Galco ( Compact ) and a Don Hume ( full size ) both with a
forward cant. I just have to make sure I got plenty of shirt with that full sized pistol.

Re: New 1911
This is what I use and it is the most comfortable holster I've ever used for any handgun.

Black Ops is the one I use. IWB or OWB. Well worth the money.
