Hybrid iwb. SOB or 4 o'clock?

I made my own hybrid for a full size MP .40. It is set up to wear RH 3-4 o'clock. Tried it SOB and liked it. Who
has worn both ways? What do you prefer and why? For SOB. I just need to make a new Kydex shell so I can draw in that position.

SOB is not comfortable for me driving or sitting so I carry IWB at 3 or 4 o'clock or in a shoulder holster.
I do carry my spare mag just left of SOB and seem to do fine with that.

I've read too many articles from people over the years warning that SOB carry can cause spinal injury if you are knocked or fall onto your back.
I carry at 4:00.

I was curious. Was wearing around the house and it seemed to stay up better and was not bad sitting. Waiting on my CHL so in the meantime trying to figure out my setup.

I agree with the 4:00 carry IWB, and 3:00 for OWB

Same experience.
I carry at 8:00 IWB and 9:00 OWB. I'm one of THOSE guys. :)

Here's a link to a post I wrote in 2008 giving my opinion of small-of-back carry, and the reasons for that opinion:
viewtopic.php?f=53&t=21342#p242742" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It may have a place for some, but it's definitely not for me.

I carry SOB quite frequently and have never had an issue. It's quite comfortable, even sitting and driving. As with many carry methods, its all in the holster. My SOB rig is a Galco SOB for a 4" 1911 (worked fine for my 5.25" & 3" 1911s).

I carry my m&p compact at the 5:30 position on a n82 professional. Love it!

Bandit--
You really just need to experiment. I started out going with the Galco SOB setup. It worked great for concealment but I had a big issue with comfort while sitting/driving...I couldn't take it for very long. Decided to try the Super Tuck from Crossbreed in the 3-4 o'clock position and haven't looked for anything else for everyday concealed carry. It hides well and is extremely comfortable.
I am kinda big boned at 6'2" & 250lbs so my clothes can hide a lot of things. My recommendation would be to spend a few bucks on what you think will work. If it doesn't conceal well enough then try something else. If it uncomfortable to wear chalk that holster up to a lesson learned and throw it in the drawer with the other rejects.
Good Luck!
