I've found this forum a very helful learning tool, and this is just my second post, so i'm hoping someone can help me learn a little more. I am about a week or so away from getting my plastic, it's been a somewhat long wait, but i'm looking forward to it! I need a good IWB holster that a) doesn't cost an arm and a leg and b) that is comfortable. i've done a lot, and by a lot i mean, TOO MUCH, reading on holsters.

I currently have a Glock 19 but here is the "problem". I'm about 6'2", 215 lbs, carrying all the weight around my beltline. I am currently wearing a 38-40 pants size, but am fighting to get back to a 35-36. Any suggestions on holster type, cant, holster position is greatly appreciated!

I purchased a Galco Stow & Go, but think i have to return it b/c it isn't all that comfortable. I think for the time being, the optimal carry location for me is somewhere around 4:00-5:00. I guess i can go with SOB, but want to steer away from that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Minotaur MTAC from comp-tac.com. And I'm 4" shorter than you and a LOT heavier. That holster will work well for you and is adjustable for cant and depth.

I suggest a gun belt soon , I wear CompTac belt with Velcro sewn in. Yeah it costs more than a Wal-Mart-K-Mart belt, but when you get one, and wear you'll know why. (Back pain gone, gun weight ... etc)

Holsters I have many, if money for a first holster is a concern (immediate comfort is also a concern on a "first" holster meaning no or a short "break-in" period)

Also, you may want "more" holsters later, but it's ok to have and use more than one ... like 1 for Sunday, one for shorts, one for casual, 1 for work or whatever

One of the most comfortable hybrids IMHO, but I don't like the mertal clips, so I put Velcro on them and wear them over pants/under belt so they don't show and don't scratch a belt (Or, you can order plastic clips)


and a well made one which takes a little longer to "break in," but is good in many many respects :

These use Comp-Tac "clips" which you can choose any of the styles from Comptac
As I said, not as comfortable initially/in Summer, you have to break it in.

Other more expensive hybrids are real good, but cost a bit more.
And, since you should get a Comp-Tac belt ... you'll be happy with any Comp-Tac holster too

Still, a Tuck This 2 (or the leather Sof-Tuck, which is the same pretty much) is a good starter holster, which actually I =use daily after buying many more expensive ones

The Comp-Tac or Crossbreed with both run between $65 and $85 (normally) depending on Horse Hide or Cowhide (horsehide is recommended for the Texas Heat to keep the sweat away, but its up to you.

I ordered one, with a single clip, but for you with a Glock 19, I would suggest double clip.
I received the holster in about a week or 10 days and the price is good.

You'll spend MORE money buying cheaper, inferior holsters that dont work then still end up with a quality holster later (I'm one of many "been there, done that" voices of experience here on this issue). As of today a holster like Crossbreed Supertuck, Comp Tac MTAC, Durham concealment, Tucker The Answer, or Old Faithful holsters really hasn't been "bettered" for an IWB style. They can get expensive (though some are less than others) but they're well worth it for durability, concealability, and comfort.

A Glock 19 in one of these is a great carry package (carry a Glock in one myself quite often).

BTW, I'm 6-1 and I wish I was 215 right now (workin on it). Haven't weigh that little since college.

I wear a Galco Concealible belt holster (OWB) and a long loose Hawaiian shirt with a 5" 1911. I find that the girth around the middle help to hide the pistol because the holster with a good belt snugs the pistol up inside my coke bottle shape. No one thinks twice that I am carrying a pistol because most people my size wear loose fitting clothing anyway.

My brutha from another mutha! I have that same holster in two sizes—one for a 5" 1911 and the other for a 3" 1911. It is a well designed holster and quite comfortable to wear, as far as OWB holsters go. Like you, I have prosperous dimensions, and the longer gun actually snugs up closer to my body than the shorter one because the outward pressure from my hip against the back of the longer holster forces the pistol grips inward closer to my body. That effect is less pronounced on the holster for the 3" gun.

Try the Bianchi pancake holsters,,I too am struggling with Dunlop syndrome,,,I carry my SW Snubnose in a older Bianchi shadow holster
