IWB options

I currently have a Bianchi leather IWB holster for my Glock 23. I don't enjoy it as the rear sight tends to be too far forward and it prints. I also have a Galco stow and go IWB for my Kahr MK40. I like this one but the Jclip prints too much.

I have been looking at the Crossbreed Supertuck, the CompTac MTAC and the CompTac CTAC. My dad has the CTAC for a 1911 and I liked it a lot.

Does anyone have experience with these that they can compare them to each other?
Or are there other holsters I should consider.

With the holsters I have, I end up never carrying the Glock and always carrying the Kahr(which I absolutely love, so that's not a problem but I would like to have the Glock as an option).

Thank you so much for your input.

I think any of these would solve your problem as they are fully adjustable.

My preference is the Crossbreed only because of my positive experience with it.

Can you elaborate on why you never carry the Glock? Just curious... is it size, weight, function, etc.? ... or is it that you don't like 'dancing with an ugly girl'? :biggrinjester:

I think a Glock 23 is beautiful. I hope a super tuck is a good choice because I ordered one last week for my Glock 23. I love that gun and Ive only had it two weeks!

A lot of it has to do with the holsters I have. I have a very comfortable OWB Galco holster, but I prefer IWB because I can wear my normal clothes. My IWB is a very nice Leather Bianchi. It just rides too high for my taste and with my body type(*cough*love handles) the rear sights print too much.
That being said, the main reason is that I absolutely love the Kahr. It is perfect to just throw on and walk out the door and I am as accurate with it as I am with the Glock which is what I use to shoot IDPA (not that I am any good).

Thank you for the suggestions so far!

Oh, and just because she's ugly doesn't mean that she doesn't have a charming personality.

Any of those double-strut holster designs from Crossbreed or Comp-Tac will be a huge improvement over standard Galco IWB holsters. I carried my G23 in a Galco Summer Comfort for years, but as I got fatter it got so uncomfortable I stopped carrying it. I now have a Crossbreed Supertuck and carry my G23 in it often.

I can't say enough good things about my MTAC. I carry an XD9SC very comfortably with this holster.

I don't have a 23 but I have a 22, 19 and 26 and they all carry well in the Crossbreed Supertuck. Very comfortable and concealable.

Johnny, I suspect that I am built like you, only more so, and I know what you mean about the rear sights "printing." That said, I often carry a full-sized 1911, and I couldn't care less about printing. I use both an OWB Galco "Concealable Belt Holster" and an IWB MTAC Minotaur. I also carry a full-sized S&W M&P 45, both in an OWB holster and in the MTAC. (Other carry guns include a 3" Kimber and a S&W 640 snubbie.)

The point is that if I were obsessing about printing, I'd never wear a gun. So what if you're printing a little bit? First, be assured that very, very few people are observant enough to realize that you have something on your belt, under your shirt; and those that do notice, have no way of knowing whether that bulge under your shirt is a PDA, an Insulin Pump, a glasses case, a calculator, a cellphone, a flashlight, or any one of a number of other possibilities. Plus, if your shirts have printed patterns on them, or they tend toward the darker colors, the printing will be considerably mitigated (do a forum search on "Hawaiian Shirt"). The only people who are likely to be noticing those things are other CHLers, and possibly LEOs, and even most of those two categories are not going to notice most of the time.

Plus, remember that "printing" is not a crime. "Deliberate failure to conceal" is a crime. That pretty much means walking around with your gun exposed to the casual viewer. So unless you are in an environment where you have to tuck your shirts in using a tuckable holster, this is not really something to spend much time worrying about.

Lastly, I would worry more about whether or not the J-clips on your holster hold the holster securely to your belt, and not so much about whether or not they are visible, because even if they were visible, the vast majority of casual viewers would not notice them.

I have a Glock 22, using a the MTAC holster.

I LOVE IT!!!

It's completely adjustable. I spent about the first week adjusting it to the point that it is very comfortable now.

I can't say that I forget that it is there, but I can say that it doesn't bother me, or restrict my motion. (at least not to bad, I haven't tried, but I'm sure it would impede a Karate style side-kick, but if it got to that point, I probably should have drawn and fired)

Also, with the MTAC, you can buy additional Kydex holster frames for your other guns. So keep the leather and attach the proper Kydex frame for your carry-of-the-day.

I did have to buy larger sized shirts, but I was able to keep my current sized pants, I do need to get a new belt though.

You just can't go wrong with the MTAC... IMHO

I am a fan of the crossbreed. Love it. I carry the 23 all day long now with no problems and in shorts and a t-shirt. I did just buy a belt from them with the vecro kit. Works great all though the belt is thick and
causes a small buldge. No big deal.

Thank you so much for the replies.

TAM, I am not too worried about printing. I am more concerned about the amount of printing that my G23 holsters do. The rear site ends up about two inches away from my side unless I move it up to about 1:30-2:00. I prefer about 3:00.

<run on sentence>
I think trying on my dad's CTAC spoiled me because I had his Colt Combat Commander on and you couldn't even tell it was there when you were looking for it, and I was wearing a normal Tshirt. </run on sentence>

I am leaning more toward the MTAC after reading a bit. There is a CompTac dealer in Sherman. Does anyone know if they let you try on the holsters in store?

Try it before you buy it! Minotaur has a 30-day money back guarantee, so I'm sure your local retailer would at least give you 5-10 minutes to try it on. If they don't, take your business elsewhere. Good luck.
