My new sights.

I was so impressed with my new sights, I just wrote a letter to a company regarding the new sights I just got and installed. Thought I'd share it/my review here.

To: WrenTech Industries, LLC - Advantage Tactical Sight

I have my concealed carry license. I've been owning, collecting and shooting pistols for over 40 years.
My eyes have Myopia, Presbyopia and have Astigmatism.

I was born with only 1 hand, ending at the wrist, and previously had trouble safely racking the slide to chamber a round. I realize you made these sights for tactical purposes as in when one hand is "busy" holding a doorknob/flashlight/injured or putting pressure on a wound so as not to bleed out; so that one could still rack the slide on a corner or a holster or belt or shoe sole to clear a jam or replace magazines etc., but I wanted to thank you on behalf of all the visually impaired one-handed people for making this set of sights we can use.

I bought them for my Glock 19, Glock 26, Glock 27 and installed them myself and used the spacers and laser sighted them in and couldn't be happier with the results. Sight acquisition is phenomenally fast in all lighting conditions except total darkness. So far, the yellow front and light orange rear is my favorite "all lighting conditions" setup.

As an added bonus, I noticed the tapered sides on the rear sight is more comfortable than any other sights as others have sharp corners that dig into my skin or holster while wearing my gun concealed. Thank you again.

Thanks for the review. I have been looking at these sights for awhile now but have been hesitant to try them because I have not found very many reviews on them. I also have a Glock 19 that I would like to try them on. If you don't mind, I have a few questions.

What spacers for the front sight did you end up with on your G19?
Did the sights come with different color inserts for the front sight or did it come with five different colored front sights?
At what distance did you sight the gun in?
Did the sights come with a tool to install the front sights?

Since I got several sets and I actually ended up with both an old style and their new style . The old style had a pin though the front sight and I took a thin finishing nail and tapped it until I got ahold of it with needle nosed pliars. Insert the color you want and re-insert the pin. The other sets were all the NEW style which has 5 different already assembled front sights, one in each color The new style was easiest, because no risk of bending or losing that tiny short pin while changing a color insert, since it's 5 different complete front sights all preassembled. I'm sure that's why they changed/improved them as I almost lost that tiny old style pin, but found it with my magnetized needle nosed pliars. I bent it slightly trying to get it back in with the new color choice, but straightened it with the pliars.
You can easily tell new or old looking at the package, the new style has 5 separate complete front sights in the package, where the old had 1 complete front sight and a bunch of loose color inserts. Either style is fine after installed, but the new improved style is best if you decide to change colors later. Neither was very difficult to install, and I only have one hand, but the new style they currently sell is better and easier to install and do color changes than the old style was.

Yes, both the old and new styles of them had the tool.

At what distance did you sight the gun in?
Long ago I made a personal decision that I'm probably not shooting over 35'-40' away. My laser is sighted in at (30') so roughly 20'-40' works great and my metal sights are sighted in for 30' too.

What spacers for the front sight did you end up with on your G19?
Ok, these sights ... I wish they had an "exploded" view somewhere, but I'll try to explain.
They come with spacers that perfectly fit in the "tray" under the screw-in part of the front site which contains the color inserts.
On both old and new styles, there is a "front sight tray" or "lower part of the front sight" that has little nibs on the bottom which fit in the slide's hole for the front sight and has slightly raised edges like a tray. You tap or press it in the slide's front sight hole gently. They come with thin metal spacers that fit inside that tray, then the top part of the front sight with the color insert has a metal threaded insert in it that sits on top of the spacers. The screw from inside the slide screws up into that. On my Glock 26/27/19 I started with all spacers on it and removed as needed because i had read a review where it was spot-on using all spacers. Mine were very close using all spacers, and on one gun I needed to remove one thin spacer to be "spot-on" at 30' (Reason I use 30' is from living room far wall to a post-it note sticker with a dot, on the bathroom door for intitial laser/bore sighting in, then fine-tuned it at the range for 7 yards to 15 yards [21'-45'] and I usually settle for spot-on at 10 yards anyway [30'])
If you don't have the "tray" seated al the way in, you'll remove more spacers, until you realize that you need to tap the front sight tray down into the slide's hole correctly. If you set the "tray" in right/all the way seated, you will probably use either all spacers or all minus 1 or 2 spacers for a range between 21' and 45'.


I didn't mention what sights I replaced.
Originally I had 25 year old burned out PT night sights on the 19. I used to get different colors of PTs and Trijicons so I could tell caliber of Glock in the dark. (Until last year I owned about 30 Glocks, but "economic times" required me to sell many of them. orange front/green rear was .45... yellow front/green rear was 9mm, ... all green was 10mm, ,... orange rear green front was .40 ) They needed replacing as I couldn't see them day nor night now.
My Glock 26/27s had stock plastic Glock sights and at first I hesitated to change them because I could see them indoors ok, but after changing the others on my Glock 19, I did it, and glad I did, as it's much faster to get a sight picture and easier to see and easier (and more comfortable) to rack the slide one-handed than with PT, Trijicon or factory Glock sights. I actually detest Novak for introducing ski-slope sights which are sloped the WRONG direction so they catch on clothing when drawing, but make it easy to reholster after everything is over, and I detest other companies for copying that backwards flawed design. The Advantage Tactical Sights don't "catch" while drawing nor when reholstering due to their slanted edges, but the centerpoint of the rear sight is easy to "catch" on a belt/holster/corner/shoe sole, when you want it to. The square top corner edges of my old sights used to dig in my side with Uncle Mikes Nylon holster, but these don't due to their multi-faceted angled/slopes. Really hard to explain the angles/slopes, but fantastic design.

On the first install, the 19, I used blue loctite, I haven't put any loctite on the 26/27 yet, (ran out of loctite) but the sights are holding up fine so far anyway, so maybe I didn't even need the loctite, just an old habit, so I may put some on later, but it doesn't come with loctite and doesn't seem to really need it as far as I can tell. Really, if you want to change colors on the front some day, probably best NOT to loctite the front. It seats very securely anyway with the tray's "nibs" seated tightly in the Glock Slide's notched hole, and the screw through the whole assembly. It's a whole lot more secured than the factory site was.
