XD 9SC Holster....

#1

Post by Micten2 »

While I'm waiting on the plastic to arrive, I went ahead and bought my carry weapon, an XD 9SC. I plan on carrying IWB anywhere from 3:00 to 6:00(depends on comfort). Any recommendations on the better holsters for this carry position? I know I'll probably end up going through tons of holsters, but with some help from you guys, maybe I could avoid some of the bad ones. Thanks a lot.

I'd say it's about 99% impossible to land the "perfect" holster the first time, either because it is not exactly what you want or does not accommodate you for an all day carry situation. Nevertheless, if you're looking to start with the popular brands, this site seems to get its cheeks all rosy red whenever anyone mentions Comp-Tac or Tucker Gunleather. I rotate between a DeSantis IWB and a hand-made OWB slide, but that's just me. Best of luck.

Check out John Ralston at 5shotleather.com. He made an "Uncle Lou", (named after Lou Alessi), for my BHP that turned out to be the most comfortable holster I own now. I also had him do a matching belt and double mag pouch.

On XDTalk.com forum, the popular ones right now are:

K&D Dakota Defender
CompTac Minotaur
Crossbreed Supertuck

You can't go wrong with Tucker's "Answer".

First you will need to build you a Holster storage box
Next don't ask anyone what there favorite holster is
this is more expensive than choosing a gun

Have fun shopping, I know I did

After you have built up a good collection of no longer used holsters you can donate them to the women's progream at Pearland!

+1 for Bills answer, I would go one step further a holster box may not be large enough, I explain to my wife on a regular basis why I have so many holsters, the last explanation was to try and relate it to why she has so many shoes, that worked for almost 10 minutes (a record), lol.

I carry an xd sc in a tucker "the answer" and love it...I searched for days online for something that looked great. I only have one other holster and have no need for a "box" :)

Have fun hunting...
