The overalls have me stumped a bit. Please forgive my unfamiliarity with overalls, but are there belt loops? If there are, are you thinking about wearing a belt with a holster on that belt? What will you cover/conceal the gun and holster with?

I like kydex holsters because there is no break-in period like there is with leather. I have been using the Blackhawk Serpa with my carry guns for several years now. I have also used one from Uncle Mikes and a Fobus holster. The Uncle Mikes and Fobus holsters are paddles and the Blackhawk can be paddle or just the belt. I finally tried just the belt loops with the Blackhawk for about two months and eventually went back to the paddle. The paddle is held closer to my body than just the belt loop method. A good leather holster that has belt loops may hold the gun close. I just haven't tried leather yet. I like the paddle style better because it is easier to reposition while wearing and it is easy to take off and store without having to unholster the gun.
