Benchmade Knives...

#1

Post by snatchel »

My wife has been sneaking into my amazon account apparently... She got birthday gift ideas from my wish list and picked up a Benchmade 940 from my LGS for me.

Nothing to review yet... But I'll come back in a few months. I will say that for non-assisted it opens very quickly and is a pleasant change from my more tactical EDC knives.

Carried my AFO Tanto for years on the streets. Congrats.

Axis lock Benchmades are very nice, I think the axis lock is an excellent design. Axis is a very reliable and easy to use.

As a complete surprise I received a Benchmade 585 Mini Barrage for last Christmas and I carry it every day. It's a great knife and a great size for the pocket. It opens consistently and predictably and there is zero slop in the hinge. My only complaint and it's a very minor one is the lock - it's a bit difficult to slide but maybe after more exercising it will loosen up a tad.

I like Benchmade knives, but I do not like that type of lock system. To me, its just one more thing to have to remember. I like the ones that lock when they are opened. I am very seldom in a hurry to unlock and stow a knife.

thanks,
George

That's what favorite lists are for. The wife and I did that for years when we only had one computer. Eventually, we got two separate laptops because the computer kept breaking down and she would always get upset with me because I always asked her what she did. So, when it finally broke beyond repair I bought his and hers laptops. Hers get's taken into the shop for cleaning and repair about every 6-8 months, while mine has been running solid for about 6 years now. Same software loaded on both machines.
