Take Down Sicko wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:22 pm Does anyone have the Springfield Emissary 1911. I bought the 4.25 and have nothing but trouble with it failing to extract. I have about 400 rounds thru it. It was one i was hoping to carry. I hear tell it has a break in period of about 500 rounds so i'll be going back to the American Shooting center late next week since they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Try a different brand of ammo
This ^ and make you have good quality magazine. I use Wilson Combat and never had an issue. Magazines fix more 1911’s than gunsmiths.
I have to agree with Carl on this. I have the 4.25" Emissary and was having a similar issue. I changed from factory mag's to Wilson Combat and never dad an issue since. Now, all of my carry mags are Wilson Combat except for my Prodigy.
I use Tripp Cobra mags for my 1911s and never had a FTF

Start a new thread.
This is the holster sub-forum, and the thread is about which holsters for a 1911.

I thought I had responded to this before. I love 1911's but I've found the older I get, the heavier I find them. I normally carry a Glock 17 and love the capacity and the weight for what it is. Plus I don't mind beating up on it where as my 1911, I bought it for my dad 25 years ago for his birthday and now it's mine. I've had to refinish it once due to rust from Kimber's poor finish. Now it lives a comfortable life.

For a carry gun, I normally prefer kydex holsters over leather. They are more rigid and for an IWB holster, no issues reholstering normally. But for a gun I would carry at a BBQ, I prefer leather. I have a couple of leather holsters and I've come to like Palmetto Leather Works. Finally quick completion time (last time it was like a month?) and I like their finish options. Might order a fancy one for my dad's Kimber Customer II to show it off.

Last year at Christmas my bride got me a couple of Tucker HF-1's. One for my Prodigy and 1 for my Colt Defender and other officers models 1911's. This year she got me one for my full size 1911.
