The Urban Carry

I've been seeing this pop up around FB for a few days now and have been considering this for workplace carry...

I don't necessarily work in a NPE, but I do have to wear slacks and a tucked polo/button down everyday and I'm extremely hot-natured, which has led me to not carry @ work.

Obviously this would be almost impossible to draw from while seated, and would require two hands, but I think this would be an improvement over not carrying. What do you guys think?

When I've had to wear a tucked in shirt I've carried in an ankle holster. Not great for access most of the time but easy access when seated.

Try a Crossbreed type holster. I think you problem is solved. Check out their videos.

I have one similar to this called the Hide-It, a combo cell phone, deep conceal holster.

It is great for a subcompact (I use it with a Ruger LCP), and it is very comfortable, even when seated. But, you're right, it is impossible to draw from while seated, and take two hands and practice to draw smoothly.

It use it in a few venues where I absolutely cannot have an inadvertent exposure.

That's the direction I was moving before seeing this holster. Honestly, I don't know which would be better... Both would really require a two-hand draw, this holster would just be a little closer to you though, rather than having to bend down or bring your ankle to you... Would you consider moving to this from ankle carry?

You know, I've tried a few on, and even bought an Alien Gear that I use sometimes, which looks like is similar to the crossbreed in the tuckability. It's just been VERY bulky and hard for me to keep from printing... Maybe I just need some more practice with it, but I tried this method for several weeks and just couldn't get it right...

I've given up on any kind of IWB carry and 99% of the time carry OWB. The video at the urban carry site shows it used for IWB and OWB. I have considered something like the urban carry for OWB. There is also the "Sneaky Pete" and something similar at the NRA site. My problem with all these types of carry is that is seems like an advertisement....particularly the "Sneaky Pete" with the SP monogram on the outside of the pouch. Maybe J6P won't notice but it might draw unwanted attention --especially when you're not among strangers, like in the work environment.

I'm not sure what you mean by two-hand draw in this context. In the urban carry video they show one hand being used to pull up the holster (IWB) and open the flap and the other hand drawing the gun. CC often entails pulling up the shirt with the off hand and drawing with the gun hand. I don't care for that method myself because I prefer to have my off hand available for blocking if needed and I can draw and clear without the shirt lift.

If you're standing you will have to bend down to draw from an ankle holster. If you're sitting you can lift your leg and pull the pants leg up with your off hand and draw with your gun hand. So overall the draw is probably easier and faster with the urban carry. I just don't like wearing a pouch on my belt and I'm concerned that it may draw unwanted attention.

I'll wait for reviews from forum members. It looks like these just come in general sizes, small, medium, and large. I would prefer something that is form fitted to the gun. These look like you're basically sliding the gun between two pieces of flat leather. This may or may not cause issues with safeties and magazine releases rubbing.

I also wondered about that. My carry (Walther PPS) doesn't have a push-button release or safety, but for others that may be more of a concern.

I use J hooks and went up a pant size to 35s. Can forget I have it on with no trouble drawing.
