Thanks for the information and I'm sorry that I didn't find it in time to join the class. I just searched their website for the next date but it apparently isn't posted yet. I'll be checking periodically. It has been a couple of years since I took a combat type first aid course and I could use a refresher.

University Health System in San Antonio is offering Stop the Bleed courses every month.
The training is free (1 hr course) and could help you save a life by the use of direct pressure and tourniquet.
The training is conducted once a month (first Monday of the month from 4PM to 5PM).

Free training to save your life or the life of others...what could be better.
The December 4th class is full but January 8th class has openings as well as future classes (at time of this posting).

For those north of Houston, Montgomery County has this also which is free. It's on the south loop in Conroe.

Hands only CPR, defibrillator usage, bleed control.
