I went to Front Sight the first time last October and am now a life member. The training is solely for personal defense, at least in the course I took, and the quality of instruction couldn't be better. There were about 400 people in the 4-day defensive handgun course when I was there, but only about 30 in each range area. With one rangemaster and 3 or 4 assistants, there were plenty of staff watching out for the students. Safety is paramount as it should be anywhere. We fired about 900 rounds in 5 days, including the last day for the Nevada CCW license qualification. There were thousands of draws from holster, loading the weapon, unloading, reholstering, drawing to ready, reholstering again (slowly) until handling your weapon becomes as familiar as your own pillow. It's quite a sight to see 1,000 people walking around with every kind of handgun in their holsters, magazines in holders, semi-auto rifles slung on shoulders, and noone is the slightest afraid or careless. I would gladly pay 5 times what I paid for my course, it's worth it to me. I plan to go again this spring, and have bought a life membership for my girlfriend. We will go together this summer. Honestly, I can't recommend this enough. It's far more useful actual shooting experience than Mas Ayoob's school. Look into it if you're interested in what works to defend yourself and your family. If legal worries are your concern, look elsewhere, because they don't, and can't, go into that in any depth because of different laws in 50 states (58 if you're obama) but they do talk a little. It's worth a look, their CD is free.

Welcome and thank you for your review. I have always had +++ Positive experiences there, and as you are now, I have been a Diamond member for a few years.

I'm going to go in April and take 3 classes back to back including the 1911 Armorers Course in celebration of it's great 100 year anniversary

My post was something along these lines an I edited it. Thanks for conveying what I was trying.

Would be interesting to hear from any "non members" that have attended a class... The Google chatter is nearly 100% positive regarding class content, but it seems that every review is from a "member" ... And the business end of things reads like an Egyptian Pharaoh's tomb.

And no one pays full price for a membership - trust me.

It sounds like he wasn't a FS member when he took the class. Then he because a member afterward because of his experience in the class.

Disclaimer: I'm not a member because I don't like some of Naish's business practices but I think FS offers decent training at a fair value.

Well THAT'S certainly a worthwhile critic of Front Sight, truly worthy of the internet.

Opinions based on:

"I've read some of their literature and find it lacking and I’m sure their training is also lacking."

and

"Doing some further web searching the owner sounds like a raging lunatic."

And coming from "Professional Soldiers - Home of the Quiet Professionals"....

I believe everyone should base their training opinions on THAT review of Front Sight

P.S. NO DISRESPECT to the REAL Soldiers out there....Some of whom are or were instructors at Front Sight ....

If anyone wants to know more about Front Sight, then I strongly suggest they search not only here on TexasCHLforum but do a google search. There's a lot more to the Front Sight story, including their advertising practices.
