My father is interested in a basic (introductory) firearms course (maybe 1-2 sessions to start) that will prepare him for the CHL course and help familiarize him with his XD 9mm. He's in Bedford and will have a few physical limitation to overcome - he is not trying to compete in IDPA here; his goal is to become safe, proficient, and prepared for the CHL course. He is decades removed from a lot of experience with shotguns and .22 rifles, but this is his first handgun.
I'd welcome any recommendations.

Re: Firearm instructor in DFW (mid-cities)
I would recommend a NRA Basic Course with a follow up
Range and familiarization hour with his XD 9. I am in Allen but you can find many
good instructors in your area. Go to the NRA training site and they will be listed.
Good luck.

Strongly recommend Larry Bartek.

Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.
