Hey folks.. I'm looking for some resources for my daughter. We moved to TX from CT in 2013 and we had a great time shooting at the range, I taught her about guns, how to be safe and she pretty much took it from there. With peep-sights she's a dead eye. So proud.
Here we are in Frisco and I would like to take her shooting again.. looking forward she wants to shoot more (and get this) she wants to get involved with a group that can help with college shooting and move on from there. Hallelujah.
I looked at some Olympic style classes but they are for slightly older trained youths. She really needs the practice and more exposure to positive shooting. She's all rifle.. I've got to sell off her Cricket - its too small for her.
I want to get her a new bolt action - something she can hold up, and she will fire my 22mag Ruger American some time soon. Does anyone have some sources for me to explore for her? I really appreciate any help you can offer for local groups. Thanks in advance.

Re: Classes for the wee-ones
I'm not familiar with shooting opportunities for youth in Frisco, you might look into the local 4H most of them offer shooting classes .
There may also instructors on the forum who offer classes for youth.
My son started off with a Cricket rifle and is also a dead eye shot. He still has his and likes to take it out every once in a while to plink with.
Good luck there's no better times to be had with kids than when shooting.

As Jusme mentioned, there are likely opportunities in 4H. You'll need to check with your county Agri-life Extension office to find out what clubs in the area offer the shooting discipline(s) she might be interested in pursuing. 4-H offers six different disciplines -- Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Muzzleloading/Black Powder, Archery and Hunting/Wildlife. Coaches must attend discipline-specific training.certification, and a 4-H club that offers Shooting Sports as a project area must have a certified coach in the discipline being offered.
Our club has one young man who went to the Junior Olympics and won the NRA Smallbore a couple of years ago, and a couple of other kids who are planning to attend JO this year. The young man who won NRA Smallbore will be attending Ohio State in the fall on a full scholarship.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program is affiliated with a lot of youth shooting organizations. You can search for clubs here:

Perhaps you should contact someone with the undefeated, going to the NCAA championships (again) in March, TCU all women rifle team.
