Looks like the campus carry movement will be just fine without Sen. Wentworth. Maybe it'll even pass this time?

Let's hope so. And let's hope that the pro side has all of the voluminous facts that support them at hand to use against the expected hysterical reaction of the bozos.

I haven't read it yet, but
I hope it's a good bill... and I hope it passes!

That would make it pretty much the same as two years ago.
I remember clearly because I joined here because of somebody I met at the 750 hearing.

There is a major flaw on the bill
Clarifying that locations which are prohibited under the Penal Code—bars, hospitals, K-12 educational facilities and churches, for example—will remain off-limits to CHL-holders even if they happen to be located on a campus.
Hospital and churches are NOT off-limits to CHL'ers unless they are posted. Has he even read the law?
And by the way, do they have BARS in colleges these days?

Are you sure? It only says they are off limits *IF* the <insert_facility_here> gives effective notice.
(f) This section does not permit a person to possess a
concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises
of a hospital maintained or operated by an institution of higher
education or private or independent institution of higher education
if the hospital gives effective notice under Section 30.06, Penal
Code. In this subsection, "hospital" has the meaning assigned by
Section 241.003, Health and Safety Code.
(g) This section does not permit a person to possess a
concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises
of a preschool, elementary school, or secondary school that is
located on the campus of an institution of higher education or
private or independent institution of higher education if the
institution gives effective notice under Section 30.06, Penal Code.
(l) Subsection (b)(2) does not apply on the premises where a
collegiate sporting event is taking place if the actor was not given
effective notice under Section 30.06.
Etcetera, etcetera. 30.06 is mentioned 5 times in the bill. Bars & churches aren't mentioned even once.

If that is on the bill, then no problem. I was referring to the link provided by the OP which is a press release summarizing the bill. The text I quoted was cut and pasted from that press release. I did not look at the bill itself.

With an attitude like this, why even bother even worrying about trying to pass anything at all?
No need to be a negative nelly. Strauss doesn't call all the shots. We got the parking lot bill last session, MPA session before, etc. Think positive and maybe you would see there is a way to work around road blocks.

Well then why all the panic to replace Strauss over the last couple of months?
I guess he calls enough shots that it was important to get him out of office. Too bad we didnt', we might get more done.

Unless you have a time machine we can't do anything about Strauss this session. If we do nothing we get nothing. A lot has been accomplished in the past when people thought it wouldn't get done. Lets keep a positive outlook and see how much we can get accomplished this session.

I understand Alan Fletcher will be filing companion bill in House. I'm not a fan of Strauss in any way, but I think this passed in the House last session but failed by one vote in Senate.

Bill has been referred to CJ.
