If Academy has a M&P Shield for $400 I would jump on that. I bought my wife an M&P Shield maybe 3-4 weeks ago and paid $450 for it. I've seen it at other gun stores for $480 and that's if you can find one. I went to the Gun Show this past weekend and I didn't see anyone with a M&P Shield. IMHO, if you see one at Academy for the $400, go for it.

If I was to sell the one I have now seeing as my wife has only shot about 250 rounds with it I would quote $400, used. Academy has a great price. That's $50 below what Smith & Wesson has them listed on their website.

Yeah good price, bad thing is availability have to be at the right store at the right time. I may hit the local ones in my area just seeing what was out there. I'm actually looking for my mother in law if she didn't like it then I just a nice addition to my collection. :coolgleamA:

Thanks

By far the cheapest place I have found to pretty much anything is Leadslingerarmory.com. He doesn't keep much on his website but he will order whatever you want. Jason is a good guy.

Why is the Shield so much harder to find at Academy than even the new Springfield XDS?

I had absolutely no luck at finding a Shield anywhere. Academy, Cheaper than Dirt, Cabella's, Gander Mountain, etc...

I finally paid extra to a Forum member and bought his because of sure luck he wanted to up grade to an S&W M&P.

For months now I have tried to find another one with no luck.

I am not a Springfield fan so I am not for sure how hard they are to find.

You have a slim to none chance of finding one at academy. The one near me that I found a ruger 1911 at, the guy said the only thing that would have surprised him more would be a shield.
He said they got 1 in the first shipment and havent seen one since and was told they probably wont see anymore for a long time.

I found mine online and it shipped free, that + the $10 transfer fee still came out less than Ive seen them sell for third party.

Check sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com they seem to get them in all the time and I have no idea how.

I went to the DFW gun range about 3 months ago to shoot mine and I almost didn't get to shoot much because the workers all wanted to shoot it.
:hurry: By the way it is a great gun and I have proven mine. I do not feel under gunned with the Shield and an extra mag.

For those that live in the Houston area, I noticed that Carter's Country had them in stock; both the .40 and the 9mm. They were charging $480 for them but they had them in stock.

Thanks for all the heads up on who has them. I will try the 2 lgs in town first as both are good at matching prices. Also another gun show at Pasadena this weekend so I might get lucky somewhere.
Thanks
