Looking for a Mark II or III in good condition. Perfer heavy barrel models only as I will be using it to test my skills on varmits and such.

Possible intrest in other .22 long barrel shooters and rifles as well.

Thanks as always!

I saw a half dozen at a show this past weekend. Prices for used tapered 6" went from about $225- 450. I don't think the guns were that different but I guess the owners have their own perspectives. A lot of times the higher priced ones have better stories.

My local Academy has the hunter model with heavy barrel and fiber optic front sight for $299. After I went a gun show looking for a deal or at least a fair price I got disgusted and went to Academy. I did buy a few extra mags while I was at the gun show though.

Ruger III is an inspired target pistol with a feather light trigger. This pistol is an absolute tack driver bar none.

The difficulty however with all ruger pistols is that they are abysmal to field strip for cleaning, absolutely abyssmal. You might give thought to that before you make a purchase.

Also view the pistols personally. Browning Buckmarks are comparable (and easier to takedown) but a have a slightly different grip angle. People usually prefer one or the other. Beretta also makes the U22 Neo which has "rakish grip," is Beretta easy to take down and generally cheaper, but with a stiffer trigger.
