WTB .45 ACP Ammo

I'm looking for factory .45 ACP ammo in the DFW area. I know ammo is hard to find these days, but I'm hoping someone could help me out so I can hit the range and break in my new Kimber. Please don't offer me ammo at 2X-3X the price because I am not desperate nor do I feel the need to stockpile ammo as if the world were coming to an end. I just want to break in my new carry weapon. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you checked your local Academy on Monday morning? The one in Sherman usually has some on the Sunday night truck, but it doesn't last long the next morning. :tiphat:

Make friends with your local Wal-Mart sporting goods dept. guy. They get ammo, you just have to be there along with, or before the hoarders/profiteers and their family members when the shipment arrives. :grumble

I'll second the Academy recommendation. I've been able to get .45 FMJ there on Monday mornings. Just join the line waiting for them to open and you should be good.

The only thing I'm still having trouble finding is .380.

Sign up for email notification at Natchez - that's what I did, and I was able to buy 5 boxes of (50) rounds Remington .45 and another 5 boxes of 9mm Remington. Only waited about two weeks total from the day I signed up for notification.

Or, you can go back to Bullet Trap since they apparently had some in stock - that is, if you don't mind shooting at their range... :)

Will Bullet Trap not sell it unless you're shooting there?

The prices these days suck, but they are what they are. Ya cant really expect a guy to sell you his "stockpile" at a price he cant replace it for.

That being said, Gunmasters in Plano had several boxes of .45 when I was there earlier today. Prices started about $25/box for American Eagle and went up from there. I picked up a box of Sellers & Bellot for $30 after tax. I just picked up a compact .45 myself and have to start laying in ammo for it - which sucks. but like I said: it its what it is.

FWIW, when prices come down, I would recommend doing a bit of stockpiling so ya dont run into this type of issue again.

How does 5 boxes of new ammo delivered for $130 sound?

There are two listings one for reloaded .45 that they show to be out of, and another further down for new that they show in stock.

Where are you in DFW?

Walmart on I-20 and Little Rd gets there stock on Monday nights. I can usually find 1-6 boxes of WWB 50rds and sometimes I get lucky and get a 100rd box or 2 on a Tuesday morning. I usually get there about 6:45am to see if they have any. If they do, you will have to wait for the Sporting Goods Guy to get there at 7am. I know, I am telling my secret, but I have managed to stockpile about 2000 rds of 45 and I have a pile of reloading equipment also. I am awaiting the arrival of my New Kimber. Good luck on your hunt. :fire

Let us know how many times they bump back your backorder date.

I broke down and did the same thing in order to get some .380 range ammo, but reports I'm hearing is that Cabela's posted backorder dates are a tad optimistic, and it's not uncommon for them to update then 2 or 3 times before anything ships.
