Wanted: Flashlight - Big, Rechargeable, Hi/Lo/Strobe
Looking for a rechargeable flashlight.
Bright (>200+ lumens on High)
3-modes (or more, but more is not a bonus). High - Low - Strobe
Run time: 5-6 hours or more on Low.
Size: Min 6 inches... prefer 8 or 9 inches.
Construction: Aluminum, with seals/waterproof (rain-proof, not worried about extended submersion)
Power: Rechargeable. Ni-Cd preferred.
Bulb: LED or Xenon
Charger: 110V. Car charger also would be a bonus.
I'm looking at the Streamlight Stinger DS LED http://www.flashlightdistributor.com/St ... ight=75810" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But, I'd really prefer to spend a lot less (<$50). Not sure if that's realistic.
Would be happy to find a good condition used torch, but recommendations for other choices are also welcome.
Thanks!

I have three Hexbrights http://www.hexbright.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and may buy more - USB recharge, programmable, but too big for standard mounts ~250 lumens on bright, all levels are programmable.
Real gun control, carrying 24/7/365

Thanks for the suggestions.... Looks like good choices for tactical handhelds.
I'm actually looking for something bigger for the trunk bag.
Found a Maglite that looks like it would do the job.. ML125 . $73 at Amazon
A bit over my price target, but from what I've seen, not a bad price for the features I'm seeking. Bonus that it takes C-cells if the NiMH runs out.
Still shopping.

Bonus here is it will run on AA if the rechargeable dies. Over your budget and smaller than you are looking for. Just because you have room for big doesnt mean you need big. Just means you could put other stuff in there instead.

I bought one of these. Only place I've ever seen them is at Sam's Club. They are not even on the Stanley website. I went to a Stanley tool seminar/presentation a few month's ago and they didn't have them there either. $59

Any idea what the lumens and run times are at each setting?
Is the beam width adjustable?
Thanks!

Re: Wanted: Flashlight - Big, Rechargeable, Hi/Lo/Strobe
Roy, I don't know the actual lumens, but it's very bright. Brighter than any other flashlight I've owned. Beam is not adjustable. I can't say how long the continuous operation is. I've had it about two months and it's still on the original charge. There is a charge indicator. I'm not home at present (visiting in Mansfield) but when I get home I'll try to find the package for information. It is USB charged (2 amp) and can also be used to charge a device with USB connection, cell phone, etc. The light can be used the while charging a device. Has car and 110v charger. The USB portal is covered by screwing the ring below the head of the flashlight. The LED is 10W, Hi,Low and SOS, No strobe function. I also found it on Amazon for 54.99 with6 bucks shipping. There's a review on Amazon that states 1003 Lumens, but I don't know if that's off the packaging or not, but like I said it's very bright. It's big enough to put a serious dent on a noggin, though I imagine Stanley doesn't recommend it as a billy club!RoyGBiv wrote:^^^^ Puma....

Not sure if you're still looking but I purchased one of each.

The 800 lumen (L1) model is so bright it hurts. I have to make sure I have it pointed up into the air when I turn it on or it momentarily blinds me. I'd say it's brighter than 800 lumens but I have no way of measuring it. It has an 800, 200 and 10 lumen "speed" plus the strobe. The downside to this model is it's a little big to carry on a normal belt. Perfect for someone's duty holster but for a normal joe, a little large.
The L2 is not quite as bright but still rocks. It has the same 3 "speed" plus stobe modes and can easily be carried next to the Leatherman or Mag Pouch.
The best part about both is the price. $49 and $39 respectively.
They both use a 2 of the CR123 Batteries or 1 of the 18650 Battery.
I purchased a few of the 18650 batteries with a charter. One charger for the car and one for the house.

I picked up a not-bad-at-all Duracell at COSTCO for $19.99 on Sunday. A bit beefier than I was looking for, but I like it and it was cheap.
Not rechargeable is a minus, and a little heavy but not too bad.

If the Duracell doesn't work out that L1 looks great.
Much appreciated!
