WTB S&W M&P 15 Sport with low round count

Looking for a S&W M&P 15 Sport with less than 1000 rounds through the barrel. Willing to pay $400 for it. Will pay more if you have ammo, too. Prefer FTF in Coppell/Addison/Plano/Dallas/Carrollton area.

However, I don't like used gun purchases that aren't FTF. The internet is littered with these types of deals on the S&W M&P 15 Sport model. The economy is bad, the gun buying panic is mostly over, and many gun snobs don't like the sport model because of the lack of a dust cover, forward assist, and chrome lined barrel. This keeps resale values low. Also, that round count is on the honor system. Upon examination, I can shine a flashlight into the melonite barrel and see if it has a round count of 15,000+ by observing the fading of the melonite finish inside the barrel but I cannot tell for certain if it has a 5000 round count or a 500 round count. Unlike handguns, rifles have a fixed round count lifespan of about 10,000 to 15, 000 rounds. Taking a discount due to the risk in buying a used rifle and the fact that I am negotiable makes this deal a likely find. For example, even though I stated a buy price of $400, I am willing to pay $425 for a lower round count and better condition rifle.

I agree that pricing has come down to sane levels again....but $400 is going to be a stretch unless you happen to find someone extremely desperate.

Yeah, on the flip side of things, the internet is also littered with crazy offers with prices still based on the buying frenzy a couple months ago. For example, I was offered by several gentlemen to purchase a USED S&W M&P 15-22 for $500. I just bought a NEW one on the LAST day of Academy's 2 week long sale for $399. There were still 2 more left when I left the store at closing time. I was also offered by several gentlemen at a recent gun show a USED S&W M&P 15 Sport for $800 and $750. Academy's regularly prices them (this is not a sale price) at $760 and Cabela's has several for a couple bucks more (I forget the exact price). I've fondled these rifles at my local Cabela's and Academy's just a couple days ago. I asked the sales clerk at Academy's and he said that they have the same stuff on sale at the same times of year. For example, the Heritage revolver that went on sale on Black Friday was on sale for the last 5 Black Fridays, at least. He said that they usually have the M&P Sports on sale around Christmas, April/May, and June/July. They usually don't have the Sport on sale at the same time as the ORC. Therefore, If I cannot buy a used Sport for around $400, I'll just wait to pick up a new one for around $600 at Academy's next sale.

I've never owned an AR-15 before because I think they're overpriced and PURPOSELY WAITED until there was a post-tulip buying frenzy crater in prices. Many people maxed out their credit cards to buy an AR-15 during the buying frenzy. Everyone who wants one already has one. There is ZERO demand for them right now and an oversupply. If you need money for the holidays, you have a maxed out credit card, and an AR-15 you're probably never going to use... I can take one off your hands and help you out for $400. Let's face it, if you live in suburbia, the probability of you ever having to shoot someone breaking into your home is slim to none. Even if there were martial law and rioting in the streets. I've lived through that in a third world country before. All you do is board up the windows, lock the doors, fill your bathtub with water, and eat your contingent of canned foods at half rations for a couple weeks until it all blows over. Neither I nor anybody else I knew had to ice someone to defend their life. You might be surprised to find that the AR-15 is just perfect as a range toy or for having fun in the woods hunting. It is a luxury I can take off your hands for $400.

P.S. "Preppers" make me laugh. The only "prepping" you have to do is buy a couple sacks of canned food. If you really want to splurge, you can buy a water bob so your tub water is nice and clean when you drink the last gulp 2 weeks later. You don't even need a gun (gasp!). There is no need for all the madness you see on the National Geographic Channel. Even with all the "prepping", depending on where YOU are when disaster strikes, you might not have access to your preps anyways, unless you sit at home 24/7 and never go anywhere. Keep an old fashioned paper Mapsco and circle all the buildings with a deep basement in the DFW area so you'll know where to go in case of nuclear disaster. Toss this in a bag with a couple of granola bars, bottled water, and first aid kit. That's all you need to "prep".

Many of the guns sold on this forum are selling for way more than they can be gotten elsewhere. I see folks selling used guns here at new gun prices and posting that it is a deal because I save tax...LOL. I have no idea why it happens, but it does. Same with gun broker.

I see nothing wrong with you offering a price you feel is fair for a weapon. Sorry if this offends but if we are capable of holding our comments about folks over pricing guns for sale, I feel we should refrain from posting comments because we feel a poster is asking for a gun at a price we feel is too low.
