If he could go with the .40 I've got a good Glock 22 that already has night sights and several 15 round mags for sale that I could let go for a great price to a LEO.

Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
Thanks, but the department uses .45 as it's duty issue ammo, so he needs to stick with a Glock 21. I forgot to mention it earlier, but also has to be double stack, so no SF models.

I figured, but thought I'd offer just in case.DaveT wrote:Thanks, but the department uses .45 as it's duty issue ammo, so he needs to stick with a Glock 21. I forgot to mention it earlier, but also has to be double stack, so no SF models.
BTW, the SF models are double stack. I have one on my hip with 13+1 in it at this very moment.

Thanks for the information, C-dub. I am not personally familiar with the SF model, I will sure pass your information on and see if that makes a difference.C-dub wrote:I figured, but thought I'd offer just in case.DaveT wrote:Thanks, but the department uses .45 as it's duty issue ammo, so he needs to stick with a Glock 21. I'm not completely positive, but I think the magazines are the same between the SF and non-SF frames. The SF stands for short frame, not slim frame. That is the Glock 36, which only holds 6+1 rounds.
For department continuity, the SF might be an option depending on the users' hand. I do not have the largest hands around and the Glock 21SF fits my hands very well. It is just a little shorter front to back, which makes the diameter a little smaller to fit some of us guys that don't have big paws.

Thanks for the clarification !
Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
The magazines are different. The SF mags will fit the standard frame, but the regular magazines will NOT fit the SF.
Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
That's interesting and a little surprising for a Glock. How can one fit in the other, but not the other way around?carlson1 wrote:The magazines are different. The SF mags will fit the standard frame, but the regular magazines will NOT fit the SF.

I just checked all my mags and there's nothing on them that designates them as SF and when I bought the extras there was no designation. They were just .45ACP 13 round mags.

Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
The Old G21 can take old & new mags while the New G21SF can only take the new mags with the extra slot along the front of the mag. The new mags also have the mag catch/release grooves meant for the old G21.
Glock is only making one G21 mag - and they work for both styles of G21.
Old Mags will NOT work in the new G21SF as they do not have the correct mag catch/release groove.
On the other the hand if they are a Generation 4 they will interchange.

Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
That probably explains why the department specifies one particular model. In the event that Officers might have to use each other's magazines in a bad situation, having two different types could pose a problem.carlson1 wrote:The magazines are different. On reflection, I guess that's not much different than when I was on the job many years ago.... back in the ancient age of revolvers for duty weapons.

My carry weapons are all 1911's, I am learning more about Glocks all the time. Thanks everyone, I guess the search for a 'regular' Model 21 is still on.
Re: WTB - good used Glock 21
Okay, cool. So it's an old/new thing and not necessarily an SF thing. You had me worried for a second.carlson1 wrote:The Old G21 can take old & new mags while the New G21SF can only take the new mags with the extra slot along the front of the mag.
