WTB 30-06 Lever Gun

#1

Post by texasag93 »

I am looking for a 30-06 lever gun. I have a Marlin 336 30-30 that I can do a partial trade with or pay cash outright.

Thanks.

This ain't no trade deal, but take a look at this: http://www.americanrifleman.org/rifles_leverAction.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Download .pdf file to read long article in American Rifleman. I don't know of any lever action chambered in 30.06, but this seems to be the equal and maybe then some. Don't know when it might show up on shelves.

I can think of the Winchester M1895 and the Browning BLR off the top of my head.

Sorry I don't have either to trade but good luck texasag93.

Production of the Winchester Model 1895 in 30.06 ceased after 1931. Beginning in 2001, Model 1895 rifles were again produced as limited editions but not in caliber 30.06.* Today's list prices for the Model 1895 in .405 Winchester begin just south of $1800 and go up from there.

You are correct. The Browning is available in 30.06 with box magazine. Don't know mag capacity for 30.06 but depending upon caliber magazines hold either 3 or 4 rounds.

There are several new and slightly used Win 1895 30-06's on gunsamerica website - but expect to pay up over $1000.00 for em. The 308 marlin express in the Marlin might be as good a choice. Sure would be cheaper - plus, you can top mount a scope if so inclined.

I am trying to consolidate my calibers. I am going to .45, 12, .22, and 30-06 from here on out.

I have the Marlin 30-30. It is an excellent gun and shoots as well as I do, but not in the scope of my goal.

I do not expect to find one, but if someone had one and they wanted to part with it, it would be a win win situation.

Thanks,

Why do you not expect to find one? Captain Matt has already found one for you. What are we missing here? I know you originally said 30.06 but you didn't say that point was non-negotiable. The new .338 Marlin Express exceeds 30.06 ballistics by a small margin and retains the tubular magazine with 5+1 capabilities for less than 900.00 MSRP in stainless steel. Is price your hangup? The Browning BLR new in 30.06 with box magazine is under a $1000.00 MSRP. Why would you consider a 79 year old Winchester that is "new or like new" (is that really possible for anything less than a small fortune) from a total stranger? If 30.06 lever action is what you have to have, looks like the old Winchester or the Browning will have to be your choice.

I do not expect to find one on this board. I left out "this board" by accident.

This is a CHL board, so mainly pistols are topics. Go to a Ford dealership, there will be Chevy's but only on the used lot and not plentiful.

I know I can buy one on gunsamerica. I like to buy locally when possible.

If I buy one in 1 week or in 2 years, it does not matter.

Now I remember why I have not posted on internet forums for months.

Miroku of Japan (Browning marked) made reproduction Winchester 1895s in 30-06 in the late 1990s and I believe into the early part of 2000s. They were 'centennial' rifles (1895-1995 for the model, and 1906-2006 for the cartridge). I believe (again) that these were marked up with NRA commemorative trim?? I guess I should have noted these were 'reproductions' in my post - sorry...
