I really hate to leave a firearm in a motor vehicle (and this is NOT a criticism as sometimes this is the only thing you can do besides leave it at home or stay there yourself.)

Given this, and your request for thoughts on replacing with a Springfield, I think you have answered your own question,
especially consideration a gracious dealer is going to help you at cost -- a very nice price.

Unless you feel the need to change caliber, type, capacity, etc for some tactical reason then:

It is the most comfortable firearm that you have ever shot. What could be better than that?
not my intention here to hijack the thread but I read something over at The High Road today that got me to thinking about these situations. A guy over there will disassemble his gun if he has to leave it in the car and take the slide, barrel and rod assembly with him while leaving the rest in the vehicle. I thought that was a great idea and may start doing that myself. So long as you don't have the frame and ammo with you i doubt anyone could really do much about it legally and it makes it a bit more difficult for thieves only having the frame. They may even be inclined to leave it alone given that it's not a finished weapon or may not even recognize it for what it is. I thought that was a bit of brilliance.
