Hello all,
Up for sale is my satin-nickle six-shot Colt Detective Special. Thinking about an S&W J-frame? Why bother with a wimpy five shot revolver, when you can have Colt quality and 20% more rounds instead! This example is in excellent condition, and functions perfectly. There are a few very small handling marks here and there, with a larger scratch at the right side of the topstrap, just behind the base of the barrel (see the third pic down). It has seen a fair amount of use, so there is some slight but expected flame cutting under the topstrap, and the forward face of the cylinder has some blackening. The cylinder locks up tightly. Single-action trigger pull is a crisp 4.75 lbs.. The bore is excellent.
I am asking $450 for a FTF transaction in or near the College Station area. This price includes a speedloader, and an extra Pachmayer rubber grip that I much prefer to use. I do not have any box or papers for this pistol. I will ask to see your driver's license (or ideally your TX CHL) and as part of the terms of sale, I will record the numbers. If this is not acceptable to you, then please don't waste your time responding. I will consider a trade for a Colt .357 revolver, with money added on my end if by chance someone has a four or six inch blued Python that they want to get rid of. I would also be interested in a blued Diamondback as well, again with money added on my end. A Smith 27 or 28 might spark my interest too, as would a model 41.
The prices on discontinued Colts continues to rise, and good DS' on Gunbroker.com will often command $500 or more, with NIB examples going for over a grand.
thanks,
PhilR.

This is a .38 special, correct? These old eyes are having trouble reading the engraving on the sides.
