SB321 (Parking Lot) on Senate Intent Calendar 3/9/11

#1

Post by artx »

Got a note from my new best friend (ApplicationsAdministrator@tlc.state.tx) that SB321 (parking lots) is on the Senate Intent calendar for tomorrow (3/9/11).

If I remember right, bills go on the Intent calendar as a 'input queue' to floor votes. Each day a portion of the bills are voted on by the full Senate, and I think it takes a 2/3 vote of the Senate to begin the floor debate.

Maybe SB321 can be voted out of the senate, and be the version submitted out of the House Business and Industry committee next Monday! (I think this would speed things up?)

Sounds great. Any word on the disposition of the equivalent house bill? It's been rather quiet on that side.

That seems to be the only bill out of ALL our bills that are moving. I really hope they start moving one of the campus carry bills along.

:iagree: totally. I had been worried about college admins influencing, but now some are trying to turn that potentially illegal activity and college rules violations against them.

What does "Reported Engrossed" mean? Does that mean it passed?

I've been watching this bill (and the corresponding house version) closely, since my employer currently prohibits me from leaving a handgun locked in my vehicle while I'm in the office.

I just heard from Brian Birdwell that SB321 just Passed the Senate without amendments with a 30-1 vote.

So will it pass the Speaker's evil will? We've been here before?

I've heard the vultures will come w the amendments on the house floor, assuming it gets through Calendar.

Is it too much to ask for this to go into effect when Perry signs it so we don't have to wait until Sep. 1?

Is it the case that Perry doesn't want it to get through despite his support in public? Alice Tripp mentioned that he was asked to put the bills on the emergency whatever and that didn't happen. He put other social interests on it. It reminds me of Bush supporting the AWB and winking that it wouldn't get to him for renewal. Could this be a reversed version of that play?

Cynical me. Play the populace and support the business lobby?
