Victim got an 8" slash from ear to Adam's apple. 100 stitches.
Perpetrator got seven years for second degree assault, ineligible for early release. Had her two kids and a boyfriend waiting in the car outside. Was on "state supervision" in Maryland for armed robbery of a pizza delivery guy at her home.
Nice photo! Looks older than 22 tho. Hard living maybe.
p.s. I find it interesting that someone was videoing a massively mundane scene that just happened to turn into a throat slashing.

According to the story I read of it on twitter a couple weeks back, she was being a PIA at the check out and he told her to knock it off or some such thing. She went to her car, got the knife and came back in to learn him a lesson.

Whoops, I left out a link. I put it in the OP. LightningRocks summed it up, she was yelling at the counter help, and the customer told her to chill. Unfortunately he didn't think to keep his guard up, she got a knife from her car, and escalated the dispute.
John Farnam taught in class that you don't get to decide when a fight is over. The focus was on gunfights, but it applies more generally.

She was charged with several crimes, attempted murder being one of them. She plead guilty to 2nd degree assault, so I assume there was a plea bargain.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw that video. It was as if the person doing the video knew what she was about to do. Maybe the person just saw her come back in and thought she might be about to attack the guy but it sure looks fishy to me.

We have had a couple threads/posts of knife attacks the past few weeks. A few with police officers with guns. One thing I can't help but do when I watch a video like this is wonder what would I have done in this situation. She came out of nowhere at him. Even if he were carrying concealed he would not have had time to draw his gun to stop her attack. If he was armed and he shot her as she ran away, would some libtard court claim he was no longer under a threat from her.
My other thought concerns a knife vs a gun type scenario. Even if you shoot your attacker as they rush you, there is still a good chance of being stabbed before they die. I am beginning to believe a knife may be more dangerous than a gun. I trained with a group that did extensive practice with defending against (and defending with) knives, and at touching distance - typical mugger distance - and I came to think a knife is much harder to defend against than a handgun, and very scary.
In this particular case (the OP), the fact that the victim did not see it coming meant he wasn't able to execute any defense. However, if he had even a moment's notice, he could have at least protected his throat (if he had some training). Probably would have been cut somewhere else, but somewhere else less deadly.

His situational awareness (lack of) is what got him into trouble. Not much time had passed since his interaction with an obviously unreasonable and angry person. He should have positioned himself such that he could watch any entry/exit points until he was certain that person was gone.
As much as is possible...I always seat myself (or stand) where I can watch doorways and/or the largest area seating area in an establishment. You don't have be on red alert all the time....but you DO need to be able to see what is going on around you.
The victim was in condition white and not paying attention.
