What a wonderful outcome. Without a gun, this woman would have had no means of protecting herself and the criminal would have been able to do whatever he wanted. I'm not defending him, but I've heard him justify it as "so officers can tell the good guys from the bad guys". I get that.. And it makes sense.
The problem is that by the time LEOs get there, 20 people are already dead.
Personally, I'd rather have 5 dead and risk the LEOs shooting the wrong one.
