Re: Houston father shoots and kills guest in daughters bedr
there's defintely more to the story than that.... my question would be why did she have a boy in her room at 2:30 in the morning? my guess is boyfriend snuck in and dad walked in on _______(fill in the blank) and shot him. then went into panic attacks after he realized he was in trouble.... i can't fully say i understand as a father because i'm not one, I would imagine that a proper amount of force concentrated at specific points of the male's body and being thrown out of the house permanently would have sufficed..... followed by some better parenting on the daughter's behalf as well.....

Unless the daughter was being 'attacked' by the 'friend' against her will, then it sounds like murder to me. If the daughter was a willing participant in the encounter, then the father is going to be in hot water.

very true, but i'm led away from her being attacked against her will because the media usually up plays on anything that has to do with sex or crime. that's what sells and gets viewers unfortunately.Keith B wrote:Unless the daughter was being 'attacked' by the 'friend' against her will, then it sounds like murder to me. Makes me wonder what they mean by "There was a confrontation".

Re: Houston father shoots and kills guest in daughters bedr
As a father of a daughter, I can fully understand the anger and disappointment of finding someone in my daughter's room like that. I can also see the temptation to exact some punishment. Shooting a teenager for it is out of bounds in my opinion unless he was forcing himself on my daughter or he turned on me physically with a weapon. I suspect the dad in this case is in deep trouble.

The story is barebones so I'll reserve judgement. There's several ways this could be anything from murder to no bill, depending on how it actually went down.

Sex with a 16 year old girl = sexual assault.
Waiting for more details until I say more.

Doesn't sound good for dad based on this article.

Need a lot more info before jumping to conclusions.

If the daughter's lie led to the shooting, she could be in trouble. . .

His daughter reportedly told her father that she did not know the teen and that the two were not in bed.
The father said he told the teen not to move, but reportedly saw the teen reach for something, at which point police say the father opened fire. The teen did not have a gun. His daughter later confessed that she did indeed know the teen, the report said.

Re: Houston father shoots and kills guest in daughters bedr
As others have said, there's more to this story than has been reported thus far. However, the father said something that should sound familiar: "The father said he told the teen not to move, but reportedly saw the teen reach for something, at which point police say the father opened fire." Remember, the TPC §9.32(b) presumption applies if a person has "reason to believe" that the other person "entered unlawfully and with force." The kid didn't live there and the daughter told her Dad she didn't know him. This may have been a tragic but good shoot. Only time will tell.
