In the old days video game controllers had cords and wouldn't reach the front door.

That article doesn't prove or disprove anything. Just an attorney talking. Facts will come out soon enough.

Even it the facts resemble the reporting, I can see both sides of the issue here and simply shake my head in sadness at the unfortunate outcome. One life lost and the other life will have to live with this forever.

It is horrible. Really makes me sick. The facts will have to come out (if that is even possible). There is no denying however that a young life was needlessly cut short in a brutal way.

When will the facts come out? Will it be when a PD spokesman decides to speak?
I've had more than enough of your "attorneys lie, COPS don't" garbage. Knock it off.
Chas.

Could the Wii controller have been one of these?

You know I am not sure that it matters much to me if he had one of those. Unless he took a defensive stance and pointed it at the police officer, there is still much scrutiny that needs to come. It should not be a lethal offense to answer a door holding a toy gun. My eight year old plays cops and robbers all over my house....we have all manner of toy guns/ray guns/pop guns etc etc all over the place. If I answer the door it is 50/50 whether my two boys are running around playing with "ray guns".
Did the police identify themselves when they knocked as police. If not, why not. If you do not identify yourself to me when you knock at my door, I will have a firearm at the ready--now not in my hand, but at the ready. These days you have to live like that even in the suburbs.
There needs to be some answers for this.

I would like to know if it was one of those controllers that looked like a gun. If it was, then we are still being misled by the media for dramatic affect. Why would the media not put it in the story that it was a wii controller that looks like a real gun?
It should not change anything. It appears she blew it big time either way. but for the media to hyperbole the story is disgusting either way.

We still need more info. One story is 'the young man came to the door, pointed the pistol at the officer and pulled the trigger'. The other is 'he just had a Wii controller in his hand'. Hopefully there will be more info soon and the investigation will reveal what actually happened.

The above is only an excuse if she identified herself as a LEO. What if because she did not identify herself he thought it was his buddy from two doors down and thought he was kidding around, and thought he was answering to door to his friend who was coming over to play duck hunting (or whatever). Even if he did precisely as you speculate that does not make this clear cut at all.
You are right we need more information, but if there are not to cameras I am not sure we will get much more than he said she said.
