...and if it were anywhere that allowed citizens to protect themselves, I'd agree with you and want to side with him in making an honest mistake.

But for places like IL, NJ, NY where the political elite, which includes him, has continually denied the 2nd Amendment rights to its citizens, I have no willingness to bend the law any more than he has. The Shakespeare phrase from Hamlet about being "hoist on his on Petard" comes to mind.

If he get a CC license, then everyone who wants a cc in ill should make a security company, where we are paid $0 for our services and we should work to protect our "bodies" from bullets/Sharp-knives and pocky things.

Trotter’s legislative voting record on guns doesn’t align with his alleged actions Wednesday.

The South Side Democrat once voted against allowing Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons.

Trotter later voted “present” on another measure that would have softened the penalty for getting caught with a concealed weapon.

Trotter now joins state Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago), who faces a federal bribery charge, and state Rep. La Shawn Ford (D-Chicago), who was indicted last week on federal bank fraud charges.

In 1995, Trotter was a “no” vote on a measure carried by state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) that would have legalized carrying concealed weapons in Illinois.

During floor debate, Trotter stood to challenge Dillard on the propriety of allowing Illinoisans to carry concealed weapons without having to go through extensive training or psychological evaluations.

“What you’re doing here [is] just basically creating part-time police officers who have not gone through the extensive training, who have not had the psychological evaluations, who will be getting out there who feel now that they’re — they are stronger, they are badder, they are tougher because they have this nine-shooter on their hip,” Trotter said.

Anywhere ordinary citizens are prohibited from defending themselves, as in Illinois, private security should be illegal. Wealthy people and corporations shouldn't be allowed to defend themselves when everyone else is not allowed. No one in Illinois should be allowed any private armed guard.
