First there was Katrina in 2005.
Then London last year.
And now NYC and NJ.

And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. I've read several articles about the results of Sandy quoting people saying they're going to get a gun for "next time."rp_photo wrote:First there was Katrina in 2005.

And maybe some of those "Blue" types will be convinced to vote "Red", but I doubt it.VMI77 wrote:And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. That is going to be tough in NY and NJ. We've been having a discussion about NJ actually being an OC State but I can tell you that, based on my experience of living there 3 years, that is a technical situation not a practical one. It is probably possible to get a long gun in both States but handguns are pretty much out of the question. And NJ bans hollow point ammo period. Gun rules can land you in jail quickly. Like Chicago, it is the law abiding citizens who are punished by those laws, not the law breakers.VMI77 wrote:And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. Without commenting how dumb a position that is, I do wonder about their definitions. And NJ bans hollow point ammo period.
Here is a linkRPB wrote:Without commenting how dumb a position that is, I do wonder about their definitions. And NJ bans hollow point ammo period.
Example:
The Hornady Critical Defense or ZombieMax bullets aren't hollow at all, but instead are FULL-filled with some sort of plastic/rubbery substance to aid in expansion .... not hollow ...
Pre-fragmented bullets aren't hollow
I recall long ago stories of people cutting a cross in the nose of a bullet.
Crazy laws.
I don't think that they will connect the dots.rp_photo wrote:And maybe some of those "Blue" types will be convinced to vote "Red", but I doubt it.VMI77 wrote:And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. Don't you know HP ammo is evil? Which makes it strange it is illegal to use in NJ.chasfm11 wrote:Here is a linkRPB wrote:Without commenting how dumb a position that is, I do wonder about their definitions. And NJ bans hollow point ammo period.

You can buy it and keep it at your home. You can transport it back and forth to a registered event, to hunt or to a gun range. But you could never carry it with you for a purpose like self-defense. It doesn't much matter. It is almost impossible to get permission to carry a gun for self-defense anyway so the ammo in it becomes a moot point.

Unless you have "connections" your request to purchase form is almost always denied.
And some amoeba brains in Connecticut are throwing eggs and other items at the line crews trying to restore power. Talk about the missing links.TexasCajun wrote:They'll never change. And even with the cancellation, Bloomberg is still saying that holding the marathon wouldn't divert resources from the clean-up. Once a little time has passed, and the national media has found something else to myopically focus on, they'll forget all about the troubles they've had. Kinda like the initial gun-ban-reation to Aurora & Wisconsin eventually went away.
But don't get me wrong. I would love for the people of the east cost to wake up & realize that their self-imposed nanny states have been reversing evolution. But I'm a realist at heart.
