And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. I've read several articles about the results of Sandy quoting people saying they're going to get a gun for "next time."

And maybe some of those "Blue" types will be convinced to vote "Red", but I doubt it.

That is going to be tough in NY and NJ. We've been having a discussion about NJ actually being an OC State but I can tell you that, based on my experience of living there 3 years, that is a technical situation not a practical one. It is probably possible to get a long gun in both States but handguns are pretty much out of the question. And NJ bans hollow point ammo period. Gun rules can land you in jail quickly. Like Chicago, it is the law abiding citizens who are punished by those laws, not the law breakers.

If you think that some LE here in Texas doesn't favor the 2nd Amendment, you should try talking to LE in NJ. They pretty much have a union mentality and no outsiders (other than blue uniforms) need apply.

BTW, Alabama crews were rejected from helping with power restoration in NJ because they are non-union. Go figure.

And NJ bans hollow point ammo period.
Without commenting how dumb a position that is, I do wonder about their definitions.
Example:
The Hornady Critical Defense or ZombieMax bullets aren't hollow at all, but instead are FULL-filled with some sort of plastic/rubbery substance to aid in expansion .... not hollow ...

Pre-fragmented bullets aren't hollow

I recall long ago stories of people cutting a cross in the nose of a bullet.

Crazy laws.

You can buy it and keep it at your home. You can transport it back and forth to a registered event, to hunt or to a gun range. But you could never carry it with you for a purpose like self-defense. It doesn't much matter. It is almost impossible to get permission to carry a gun for self-defense anyway so the ammo in it becomes a moot point.

Don't you know HP ammo is evil? Which makes it strange it is illegal to use in NJ. :biggrinjester: The anti crowd reveals their true intentions with laws like this. A big reveal is the desire to ban handguns. 80% of those shot with handguns survive. If handguns could me made to magically disappear overnight, criminals and everyone else would be forced to use shotguns and rifles.....which are more lethal, so the net effect of a handgun ban would be to increase the number of people killed with guns. And that's what the antis want: more people killed in order to advance their agenda. And we know that when more people are subsequently killed, they will call for a ban on rifles and shotguns. Everyone of these laws is nothing less than a cynical attempt to cause more injury and death to use as an excuse to ban all guns. The HP ban is the same....the intent is for self-defense shootings to injure innocent bystanders, not to save people from the effects of HP ammo.

They'll never change. It took them this long to decide that it wasn't a good idea to hold the NYC Marathon. And even with the cancellation, Bloomberg is still saying that holding the marathon wouldn't divert resources from the clean-up. Towns in New Jersey are refusing work crews from the south because the crews are not union. Once a little time has passed, and the national media has found something else to myopically focus on, they'll forget all about the troubles they've had. Kinda like the initial gun-ban-reation to Aurora & Wisconsin eventually went away.

But don't get me wrong. I would love for the people of the east cost to wake up & realize that their self-imposed nanny states have been reversing evolution. But I'm a realist at heart.

And some amoeba brains in Connecticut are throwing eggs and other items at the line crews trying to restore power. Talk about the missing links. :smilelol5:

So are the people with no gas and food, people who live from day to day, meal to meal.

Maybe a good dose of anarchy is what those arrogant knuckleheads need.
