Teen charged after robbery victim kills alleged accomplice

A Milwaukee teenager was charged Friday in a companion's shooting death, which allegedly occurred as they robbed an armed man.

According to a criminal complaint, the robbery target, who was wounded, told police he holds a legally issued concealed-carry permit and that his 5-year-old son was with him when the two robbers confronted him with a gun.

Wisconsin has no prohibition on capacity of magazines, so I'm assuming perhaps the victim made an error in gun choice/low capacity choice since "one was charged" indicating that taxpayers will pay his room, board and medical needs for years to come.

The last line of that piece of toilet paper report just blows my mind.. It's almost like they are attempting to put the victim, and the robbers, on equal footing in regards to who held a concealed carry permit. That last sentence should be stricken from the article, and/or the writer should be stricken across the head/face.

Wow...the guy was shot multiple times with a .40 and fled before collapsing. Would it be wrong to wonder what kind of ammo the guy had?

According to that video I posted here a few weeks ago, handgun rounds seldom incapacitate the target immediately. A great many victims of handgun shootings survive, unless you get a really lucky, or perhaps well aimed (can we always tell which is which?) hit.

I've never shot anybody. I kind of expected that if I ever did, the target would just flop lifelessly to the ground; that would be that. Thanks to all these forums, the spreading of articles and videos, I now realize that isn't the way it is, anymore than police can just shoot the gun out of the BG's hand like the Lone Ranger. A pity, but alas, apparently reality.

Yep, 80% of handgun shooting victims survive, and most of the time incapacitation is only by blood loss or damage to nerve function. Someone posted a link to a great presentation by an anesthesiologist detailing the aftermath of pistol wounds. I am too busy studying to research much further into where that post is, but if you find it I would recommend watching the video in its entirety.

That study was spot on with my observations as a paramedic working in Fort Worth/Tarrant Co for over 20 years - most of the time, if they were alive when I got to them, they'd stay alive to the ER (transport times of anywhere from 5 minutes downtown to up to 3/4 hour if I was really out in the sticks). The few who died en-route were usually lung or gut-shots. If they were DRT (dead right there), it was usually a big bleed from a major artery or a head/spine shot.

A lot of my patients were some distance removed from where the action was... unless they're DRT, they're often mobile and, if coming AT you, still a threat. Most folks, though, would probably have enough sense to go the other way...
