The above link is from a chest-mounted camera on a Keene, Texas LEO.
Keene is west of I-35W, near Cleburne, Texas. This is Johnson County.

When you access the above link, hit the "show more" tab to read the whole story.

The LEO stops a 77 year old church-playing piano grandma for doing 66 in a 50 MPH zone.

She doesn't comply with his lawful orders and starts to sass him. She gets arrested for failing
to produce her ID.

Her lawyer says the LEO overwhelmed her and over reacted by arresting.
I say she's as sassy as that Travis County grandma who got tased a year or 2 back, also for non-compliance
and sassing the LEO.

The Youtube link has more video and a bigger text discussion of the incident, but if you go to liveleak, which
we are forbidden to link to, the video is clearer and the audio is correctly synched to the action.

Keene, Joshua, Rio Vista area is home to a bunch of devout independent minded Seventy Day Adventist. If I were to chose to live in a area today where a homeowner could bed down and 'leave the latch string out', The Keene/Joshua are would be close to the top of my list.

Good for the LEO. I hope his actions don't come back snapping at his rear.

The Cop was doing his job, she was resisting all the time and non-compliant. She would enjoy her time in jail. Now she has a an arrest record.

Her medical "excuse" would not fly in-front of a judge. If she is so pressed to go to the restroom, why she was asking for a minute to hand over her DL and insurance? She is bit cocky and stupid too. She did not want to have a ticket and pay it. Now she has a criminal record. Stupidity at its best.

I side with the officer on this one. She was not compliant and he used no more force than necessary.

From what is available,,,I'd have no issue with the LEO's action.. BUT he COULD have likely mitigated the event if he was willing to play the game a bit.

I don't see any reason to make him play "games" in the line of his duty and job.

EVERYONE knows what you are 'supposed' to do when pulled over, there is no excuse for her behavior

Because it IS his job to interact with the public in a manor that gets the required results.

Same reason a CHL person should attempt to find a way NOT to shoot someone, even if it is legally sufficient.

That lady was a pain, no argument.. the LEO was likely legally sufficient in his actions.. does not mean he could have, if his personality allowed for it... handled the situation in a different way, which resulted in his checking her papers, issuing a citation and both parties being on there way.

Did he really protect society from anything that day? do you feel safer with that violator behind bars? Do you think that was a wise use of the criminal system that is already over burdened to handle those truly in need of being locked up?
How many hours was that LEO off the street, not finding a drunk driver, a dealer making a sale, pulling over someone for a tail light out and finding a violent offended in the car, while he took that obnoxious lady to lock up?

Again, I don't thing he was wrong, I think he could have possibly taken different steps that resulted in the needed actions but resulted in a quicker outcome that put a LEO back on the street faster.

Here is another video that is a little different and has better audio. The lady was clearly in the wrong but it might could have been handled differently. She did not get taken to jail. The police chief came to the scene and smoothed things over and she was allowed to leave with citations.

I agree that the LEO could have handled things differently or better, but I stand by my previous statement. He did not use excessive force or do anything else illegal or wrong. Putting it back on the woman who was stopped. Could she have handled things differently or better? I think so.

The media is trying [sucessfully] to make this something more than it is. It is a legal traffic stop where the person is failing to do what is legally required. Does her age, or the fact that she is a grandmother give her any special rights or privleges to disobey the lawful commands of an LEO? I think not.

You could say that about most any traffic stop. The last time I got pulled over was for a burned out headlight. In a 15 minute period, I got pulled over by three seperate LEOs for the same violation. Did they waste their time? Yes. Was irritated and annoyed. Yes, I but showed my ID everytime. Was society safer? No.

P.S. JP171. This happened in San Leon. :smilelol5:

First let me say I agree the woman got what she deserved for failing to comply with the LEO's request for her DL and Insurance, she could have had a much easier day without all that.

as far as "sass" or being sassy or as its called "contemp of cop" awww too bad, there is no law that says you can't tell a LEO he is the south end of a northbound horse, you may pay for it in the long run by a ride to jail but its not illegal. :banghead:

I didnt watch the video. Is this the same old gal who claimed that she had a bladder infection and needed to get to a bathroom right away? I ask because, as an occasional sufferer of bladder infections myself, I had sympathy for her plight.....if that's her......if it is true. That doesn't mean the cop was bad, it just means that if he's dealing with someone who is desperate for medical reasons, there might have been a better way to handle it is all.

OTH, if she was lying, then she got what she deserved.

If she had given the officer her ID, she would have been on her way sooner. When she went to court and explained her bladder problem, the judge may have dismissed the charge. As I stated in my previous posts, the LEO could have handled it differently, I still do not condemn his actions.

He probably treated her more gently than a 20 year old Black man would get treated if he behaved like she did. Maybe next time the police should treat her like they would treat a minority youth and see if she likes that better.
