Two people attempted to rob Puff's Smoke Shop on the East Freeway in East Harris County.
An armed black male came into the store, firing a handgun.
The store clerk was shot in the leg, but had his own handgun.
The police spokesman stated that about 6 to 8 rounds in total were exchanged.
The BG shooter and an unknown 2nd suspect made their getaway in a silver Dodge Charger.
The clerk's leg wound is not life-threatening.
