This happened July 1st, but the video was released today
"It appeared to be a firing squad dressed in police uniforms," Jewel Hall told CNN from her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/16/us/michig ... ndex.html?
Do you think the shooting was justified? Should they have tased him?

From the video it looks obvious that they continued shooting while the guy was on the way down or already down. He went down after the first few shots. Wonder what they would do if it was a CHL.

Ive been to Saginaw many times, my in-laws still live there (and have their entire lives).
It is certainly not a nice area (any longer) and besides Flint, Michigan, it is a close 2nd to cities I would never want to live it, due to all of the violence.
So while I am not saying I agree with the shooting, I can see where it stems from.

Wow!
There's got to be more to the story. The investigative outcome will be interesting...

Yep, I don't have much use for Sag-nasty.
But then again, if someone pulls a knife or a gun on a cop, they give up their right to not get shot. He was well within range where that knife was an imminent danger.

What really has me scratching my head is that the "community" has a problem with what happened, and that some find this to be even newsworthy. If you brandish a weapon and threaten violence towards police, this is likely the outcome. What is so difficult to figure out???? Have we not seen the same thing play out over & over & over again many times through history? How STUPID does someone have to be to have a weapon, threaten a police officer, and expect a different outcome? I think that guy got exactly what he deserved, and it's a shame it did not happen sooner if what they say about his history with police is true.
His mother during the interview is priceless. She states he is known to have "mental disorder". That being the case, why is he not getting the care that he needs to control himself? I only wish the news station/reporter hosting the interview would have asked her "What could YOU have done differently as his parent to have helped avoid a situation like this?". I would PAY GOOD MONEY to have heard this question asked.
The woman in the parking lot being interviewed stated something to the effect of it could have been handled differently. Really... How so? They could have tazed him and arrested him and he'd be out again very soon threatening, or harming, other officers. Yes, that sounds like a great plan.
I commend the police for using almost enough bullets so as to insure that there was no court case, hospital bill, rehabilitation, ambulance ride, compensation from the city, and further wasted tax dollars. My hats off to those officers. If I knew who they were, I'd gladly contribute money towards more ammo.
I hear it said here and on other web sites "play stupid games, win stupid prizes". Our winner of the week with the bullet riddled body is thus crowned.

What is with all of these "social justice" hawks that relentlessly comment on these stories about "shoot to wound, not kill" these people. This is a classic case of suicide by cop. Move along now. We have got to educate people about the 21 foot rule.

WOW!!
Watching the video it sure seems like he is walking away from the cops when they shot him.
I will withhold my opinion at this time.

After he goes down, you can see 2 LEO's walking up from the direction he was headed when they started shooting.
