I'm glad it turned out like it did, but she's lucky that guy behind her wasn't an accomplice. I hate thieves though. I wish everyone could beat the crap out of them.

She really had no choice. The bad guy grabbed her. In my humble opinion, once the bad guy makes physical contact, compliance is no longer an option.

I just watched it a second time. I don't know if he grabbed her but he did lunge at her in a threatening fashion, even if he was going for the register. I still think she reacted in a fashion that was appropriate for the circumstances. A bad guy lunges at me and I am not waiting for them to stick me with a knife before I start fighting back.

I think he accidently hit her, but was going for the register drawer. I don't advocate compliance. I probably would have done the same thing. I used to work in a chain store as an asset protection agent. We weren't allowed to ever touch anyone regardless of the situation. If we did we would be immediately fired. That was one of the reasons I quit. I really never did anything except stand at the door. I don't like to see people steal and get away with it.

That guy's lucky he got away. Sometimes gettin' in is a lot easier than gettin' out.

here is another article in better detail
Thomas believes the man thought she was an easy target for a robbery. "But he had another thing coming when he tried," she said. "No nails broken, didn't even break a sweat."

"After grabbing a little over $30, the robber eventually left the store, but not before Thomas hit him in the head with the very Oreo's he was trying to buy"

That line was funny!
