Henderson, N.C. — A 14-year-old Henderson boy calmly described in a 911 call how he shot an intruder in a home invasion last week.

"I just shot the man. He came around the corner. I shot him. He broke the whole glass out (of the back door)," the teen told the 911 dispatcher.

Authorities said Anthony Henderson Jr. 19, broke into the home at 586 S. Lynnbank Road on Thursday while the teen and his 17-year-old sister were home.

Deputies have charged Andrew Terry, 23, of 113 N. Woods Drive, with felony breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and injury to real property in the case. They also are searching for two other men – Seneca Henderson, 20, of 907 S. Beckford Drive, No. 134, and Jatwaun Davis, 21, of 199 Belle Russell Road.

The boy's sister called 911 to report that someone was banging on the door trying to get in. She said she was hiding in her bedroom closet but told the dispatcher that her brother had a gun.

After the brother got on the phone, the dispatcher ordered him to put down his shotgun.

"I don't know how many it was (who broke in). Just one came around the corner. I got one more in the chamber. I'm going to shoot again," the boy said.

"Do not, while I’m on the phone, do not fire that firearm, OK?" the dispatcher said.

"What if another one comes in the house, ma'am?" he asked.

"Let me know, OK, if you see anybody.

Burglar caught and shot after break in

Lawton_A deadly shooting outside a house on Lawton's northwest side Tuesday after a burglar is caught red-handed. Lawton police say a family interrupted a burglar in their home. Within moments, shots were fired and the burglar was dead. And the entire thing was caught on tape.

The homeowner's son was actually the one who shot the burglar, and called police when he had the burglar surrendering on the front lawn... Problem was, the burglar was trying to fight back.

Kenneth Dorrell told his son Jeff to go back to the house and check that the new computer was off, that's when Jeff noticed things weren't right at home. ''When Jeff arrived at home he noticed there was a pickup here that he had never seen before, and as he got closer to the house he noticed that the door was open which was unusual and drew his suspicion," said the family's lawyer, John Zelbst.

Jeff went and got a pistol out of his car and went back up to te house. That's when Zelbst says he saw the burglar coming out the front door carrying a computer and a rifle. ''At that point he told the young man to lay down, which he laid down for a period of time,

You know one of the others picked that gun up and ran with it. This is so common in shootings with multiple thugs. These home invasions are getting to be problematic, they think that b&E is like shopping at walmart

Lawton police have interviewed witnesses and the family and they are preparing a case to present to the district attorney. They are hoping to get that to him Wednesday -- and we should know whether the D.A. will charge Jeff with anything.

I think parents should teach their kids this phrase for 911 dispatchers. "Yes, ma'am" I'll put down the gun as soon as you come and stand between me and the criminals. I'll wait." <click>

Two more arrested in Henderson home invasion

Henderson, N.C. — Vance County deputies have arrested two more men wanted in a fatal Henderson home invasion last week, in which a teenager shot and killed one of the intruders.

Michael Anthony Henderson Jr., 19, is accused of going to the home at 586 S. Lynnbank Road on Thursday, along with his brother and two other men.

A 14-year-old boy and his 17-year-old sister were home at the time, and the boy shot and killed Henderson.

Great job by the 14 year old! He did everything right, including pushing back on the dispatcher's admonition to not fire again. I hope that dispatcher got some little additional training about the fact that she cannot guarantee anybody's safety just because she's on the phone with them.

What in the heck is wrong with that dispatcher? Would he have said the same thing to the woman in the famous audio file who shot and killed her attacker inside her own bedroom?

That is reprehensible behavior on the part of the dispatcher. Thankfully the young man had the presence of mind to ignore that foolish command.

I do understand where the dispatcher is coming from. She did not want for the armed boy to get inadvertently shot by the deputies. The police will always be there to protect us from the baddies. It's okay for him to put down his shotgun against multiple, possibly all armed, intruders because police are on the way.

...get real! It was at least 10 minutes before anyone showed up. If the intruders were successful, they would have been in and out of there in less than 10 minutes.

Perhaps, he should have told the dispatcher that he is keeping his shotgun ready and to make sure the officers identify themselves so he will know when he no longer needs his protection in his own home.
