Someone on this forum said The Zimmerman case would be different if George was a cop. Thankfully the shooting victim was not black. California police already have trouble relations with the black community.

""It's just crazy, the cops are going crazy on us," said Lagunas,"
Yes, it's "just crazy" that the police are finding themselves in a position to defend themselves against a KNOWN GANG MEMBER, with a criminal history of POSSESSING ILLEGAL NARCOTICS, who also has been arrested previously for carrying a GUN ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. Crazy that this gang banger ran from the cops, and was subsequently shot. I can't imagine how this poor "kid" wound up in such an unfortunate situation.
The signs being left at the make-shift shrine to "protect" them...?????? Protect the drug-dealing, gang-banging, SLEAZE-BALLS? I think not! The officer did right. Give him a longer leash, more bullets, and put him on the night-shift. What the officer did is a REAL benefit to the community and he should be hailed as a hero. I'll bet we find out later that the DRUG DEALER (I won't call him a "kid" as they do in the article) was also here illegally.
I'll pray tonight that "this element" continues to riot, and pull retarded stunts, and press the issue until more of them are shot down in the streets like the vermin that they are. If your community supports drug dealers, and riots when one of them is shot, you probably deserve exactly what your buddy got.
Lord, please let the officers aim be true, and that their lead not be wasted. If the heathens are ready to stand before you for judgement, let that date be soon, and your judgement swift. Take the dope peddlers off our streets and stop them from pushing their poison on our children. Amen.

Court records show Diaz was convicted last year of drug possession, and three years earlier of possessing a firearm on school grounds and being a member of a criminal street gang.
would you tell yourself he doesn't have a gun if he made a gesture like he did?

Pursued by law enforcement, rather a self proclaimed neighborhood watch person.

Except that Z wasn't a "self proclaimed" neighborhood watch person. He was an
actual neighborhood watch captain.

I stand corrected. Regardless, no LEO authority.
In September 2011, the Twin Lakes residents held an organizational meeting to create a neighborhood watch program. Zimmerman was selected by neighbors as the program's coordinator, according to Wendy Dorival, Neighborhood Watch organizer for the Sanford Police Department.

And he wasn't pursuing TM. He was following him and "arguably" had ceased that when he was "arguably" jumped by TM.

And Zman was arguably pursuing; as panting in Zman's voice could be heard during the call. It's not arguable that a LEO is within his or her authority to pursue suspicious characters, it's not arguable that a neighborhood coordinator should be armed pursuing suspicious characters. (Be a good witness not a hero).
According to Chris Tutko, the director of the National Neighborhood Watch program Zimmerman was not part of a registered neighborhood watch program. ABC News reports that the neighborhood watch manual states: "It should be emphasized to members that they do not possess police powers. And they shall not carry weapons or pursue vehicles."

If what you are following runs, you cannot continue to follow if you don't also run. I say arguably because GZ did not overtake TM. It's looking like it was the other way around. It's looking like TM doubled back to attack GZ, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Does a neighborhood watch have to be registered? IDK

With the press, on second thought, probably glad they were not affiliated. We all are looking forward to seeing/hearing the permissible details surrounding this incident.
