Interesting

"The victim’s 16-year-old daughter told deputies they were both asleep in the same bed when two men broke into their home.
They stabbed the 48-year-old mother several times and fled on foot. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
The daughter wasn’t injured. She ran to a neighbor's house for help"

Re: Interesting
What aspect of the story is interesting?
BTW, the print version on the website has the street spelled incorrectly. It is 8300 block of Poplar Ridge Lane, not Polar. It's basically in the Humble area. I don't know that area at all.

Re: Interesting
A suspect was arrested yesterday and confessed. It seems he knew the daughter. Police said the suspect said she let him in:

It still is difficult to understand a motive in this case. Sometimes killings like this happen when a parent won't allow a girl to date a man that they dislike.

Re: Interesting
So far it's just the word of an admitted murderer that the girl was involved.
The police are pretty good at figuring out this stuff. I think it's safe to assume that phone records have already been subpoenaed. If there was a computer at the scene, they have that.
Also teenagers are notoriously bad at keeping their lips zipped if they have been involved in something.
Interesting that the suspect's family swears he was home. Who does a bed check on adults at 1 a.m.?

The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

Re: Interesting
But dogs don't talk to the cops.
I'm sure someone will mention "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time," so I'll do it first.

Man is that suit hot! My BIL was in charge of the Crimestoppers program for the department when I was a reserve officer, so I got stuck playing McGruff a few times.smoothoperator wrote:
