Two guys try to rob woman in a car and make mistake of shooting at her:

Campbell fired back at both men, hitting Spencer in the chest. According to a Macon police report, Shivers ran away after Campbell fired a shot at him.
...
At her office Monday afternoon, Campell said she always carries a gun on her hip and keeps one in her car, besides keeping firearms at the 13 gas stations she owns across Macon, Fort Valley and Columbus.
...
Campbell said she believed she was going to die during the confrontation but that she “was going to take one of them with me.”

As I read the article I thought of the "Gift of Fear" The reason she wanted to call her grandson was likely because she "knew" she was followed by the hoodlums. Her "spidey senses were telling her all along something wasn't right.

Good on her for taking care of business. I hope that Lord willing I will have the situational awareness to avoid that type of confrontation and/or the way to deal with it should the need arise! :tiphat:

Wow!! That is one heck of a story.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

The story has been updated a couple times since I first posted it, has a lot more detail than the original.

She sounds like an awesome person.

Sometimes she didn’t miss. Some 35 years ago, she shot her husband and his mistress after catching them together.

However, no charges were filed against her.

“After that, my husband said ‘I wish I didn’t teach you how to shoot!’ ” she said.
