The above video is about 3 minutes long and shows a merchant vessel being approached by
Somali pirates in at least 2 skiffs. The private security guards engage the approaching pirates
with AR-15's or similar. The bad guys appear to break off the attack since they have met armed
resistance. Note the sandbagged firing positions on the GG's ship.

The above video is a classic. It's 3:36 long and shows the Russian Navy shooting a Somali pirate
vessel out of the water. The ship's crew uses cannon, mini-gun, large machine gun, AK-47's, and RPG's
to destroy the vessel. I have seen various copies of this basic action. Some say that the pirates were
still on the vessel, handcuffed to the gunwales, while their ship was destroyed. IDK if that's true or not,
but the Russian Navy was not playing in this video.

I'm not sure the first skiff broke off the attack so much as didn't have any attack left in 'em. Having two full autos firing straight down on them, I doubt that there was anyone actually driving at that point.

I love the title of the second video. "Criminals may be dying and no one seems to care!" Ummmmm, we do care just from a slightly different perspective. If you're gonna try and tug at my heart strings at least act like they're innocent fisherman caught in the cross fire.

I love on the first video how the guys says "Warning Shots guys!" right... sure looked like "warning shots", more like "WARNING YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE" shots.

A .308 to the chest is a REALLY strong warning to stop what you're doing.

Wow, those are cool videos. I like the first...show more "raw" video. The second was too edited for drama sake...

In the first video, it looked like the person filming was hip shooting the AR -- certainly did not look like aimed fire unless the camera was mounted about 18 inches over his head.

2nd video is not of somali pirates. The boats were sitting still. It was just the Russian navy doing target practice.

Seriously, in history, the American military took care of pirates. Note the Barbary wars where Americans invaded North Africa and destroyed the pirates. Now, with American forces preoccupied in the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, they know that they have free reign so the African pirates have started to attack again. Since the Americans are no longer taking care of pirates, the Russians and Chinese have been stepping in. The Chinese built their first aircraft carrier. Would they have built the aircraft carrier and other new naval vessels if there were no piracy threat to Chinese shipping? Probably not. Our addiction to oil and resultant defense of mideast interests have caused a global naval arms buildup that now threatens American global naval superiority. This is not good.

We should all start using less oil.
