This happened in Lewisville, Denton County, the other day. It was only about a mile from where I live.

The above link contains most of the story, but I heard other details on the radio news.

Mr. Stolz shot the 2 dogs, the wife got upset, he shot her dead in the abdomen, and had planned to commit
suicide. But he ran out of bullets, so he stayed in the house with his wife's body until Lewisville SWAT came
a 'knockin. Sheesh.

So much for the idea of "no crime in Denton County".

While this technically does constitute a crime, you are talking about an individual who is mentally ill and dealing with personal issues within his domestic life. These types of murder-suicide cases will usually be 99.9% domestic. I personally would not consider these types of events a threat, unless my wife was the one going off her rocker.

He had plenty of time (3-4 days) to go out and get more ammo.
He'd have saved us some money on the trial, incarceration and execution if he'd taken care of that himself.

RIP Bernice.
