DALLAS - Preston Hollow is one of the most upscale neighborhoods in North Texas, lined with expensive homes. It's here door-to-door magazine salesmen are targeting residents.

A 21 year old, who didn't want to be identified, was attacked last week.

"He came up and was very inarticulate, and said some kind of babble about needing money for some organization - obviously fake," the man said

...this explains to all but those who don't want to understand...why we call the police on solicitors...two great examples...

Thanks for the post! It confirms why I am armed and ready whenever I answer my door for an unexpected guest.

The 21 year old victim is now of age to get his CHL, as long as he has a clean record,
plus he lives in Preston Hollow (moneyed area, close to where George W. Bush lives).

It's time for him to get on the stick and get his plastic. Daddy will be able to set him up with a nice Kimber directly.

Unless a CHL has a force field, it would have done nothing for this guy. Having a gun in hand behind your back would have done nothing to save you. You would have been able to shoot the attacker AFTER you got stabbed. Once someone is on top of us like that, we are going to get hurt if they want to hurt us. The ONLY way this would have been prevented is to Refuse to open THE DOOR. I have waved off more than one door to door salesman without opening the door. I do have my firearm, but not displayed, in case the BG is a real dumb BG and attempts to come through my closed and locked door.

We should all remember that a CHL and a gun are no substitute for a little caution and common sense.

After watching that story on Channel 8 last night, my wife finally realizes why I answer the door the way I do!

Last I checked, there is no law that requires me to open my door to uninvited guests. I have glass in my door that I can see through and I just stand away from the door a few feet and scream... "NOT INTERESTED" as I wave them away. They always leave. Lord help them if they act aggressive.

If you have a peep hole, you can do the same. "NOT INTERESTED"... it is real easy...LOL. Unless they are selling girlscout cookies. In this case I am dead meat!
