Well, hey, he did work work for the IRS . . . "rlol"

Do you think he ever sat in that cell and wondered if there was something he could have done to de-escalate the situation and avoided the trouble altogether? When road rage starts, it is better to turn off, make a U-turn, stop, whatever it takes to defuse things.

Also, get on 911 while you are still in the car before anything has violent happened. I had 911 on the phone with me for 4-5 minutes a few months ago because someone was upset at me. When I made a couple of left turns from the left lane that he followed from the right lane, I called 911 while he was following me. I eventually avoided the situation, but if the guy had hit me for example, it would have been prudent to have a phone record of me warning them I was worried about this car, and it would have demonstrated my attempt to retreat/avoid.

:tiphat:

"West Des Moines police arrested Lewis for failing to back off and avoid the gunplay. He was charged with two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and one of going armed with intent."

I was raised in Iowa and moved Texas in the 70's. Iowa has changed it laws for CHL in 2011. Des MOINE is not friendly to CHL holders. Think 1950's police mind set, ie black, gun and go to jail. There is more laws that needs to be changed. So, when traveling in Iowa just remember "we are not in TEXAS".

...sadly, it takes the time machine called civil court to bring some mindsets into the 21st century...I hope this guy takes advantage of any such opportunities...

This is outrageous! DA Sarcone needs to have his nether regions boiled in motor oil.
What Lewis' case shows is that current law works, Sarcone said: "I don't know why people are afraid of jury trials. I'm not."
Board rules prevent me from posting the kind of language that properly describes such a cretinous scumbag.

It is worth noting that Sarcone argued against the pending bill which would give Iowans the right to stand their ground.

There's an amazing lack of easy-to-find data on Teh Interwebz about the boiling point of non-cooking oils... However, after much research, might I suggest sulfur as an alternative since it boils at 823 degrees, vs 572 for generic motor oil (which incidentally is above its flash point of 536 degrees, so NO SMOKING around scary-hot motors).

Of course he sees no reason to be afraid of a jury trial because every night he goes home and every payday, he gets paid. He would have a very different view if he was an innocent man whose life was being ruined.
