About the alleged shooter from years before
They found him in possession of marijuana but also with a gun, which was illegal because he was already a convicted felon according to Tasha Jamerson, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Seth Williams.

Barreto was charged with five gun-related crimes, including trying to scrape off the serial number on the gun, but the charges were dropped six months later
WHY?????

This is the kind of stuff that makes me just crazy. So here was a punk with a raft of gun charges, the reason that they put the gun laws in place originally and the charges against him were dropped because the cops didn't follow the rules. Now, kids are dead.

And the Mayor says ........drum roll, please....... need more gun laws because we cannot prosecute with the ones that we have. :deadhorse:

P....L.....E....A....S.....E..... :banghead:

I have come to the conclusion that people like that Nutter fit into one of two categories: idiots or evil. Either they don't get it and can't get it, and they are idiots. OR...they DO get it and they just don't care because it doesn't fit with their precious little ideology. And in my book that makes them evil. My anger and disgust with people like that has no limits.

I did like the comments he made to the parents of the "victims":
“Seven young people, somewhere between 14 and 16 years old, on a Tuesday night, a school night, are out in a car going to somewhere to have a fight with some other teenager. That is completely insane, it is irresponsible. Parents have to know where their children are and what they are doing,” the mayor said.

“Their little butts should have either been in bed, getting ready for bed, or doing some homework,” Nutter added. “Not out in a car, not in some other neighborhood, and not up to this kind of nonsense. I’m not your mom and I’m not your dad. We cannot completely legislate, or by policy, make people responsible for their children.”

If this was the attitude about all of it, I wouldn't have a problem with them. My comments above were in reference to a specific mindset about "gun control"...

@Heartland Patriot -- I apologize if you took my post as commenting on your previous comment. The quote I posted was about the only smart thing I have heard this politician utter.

I remember a time when just about every TV station (there were only three) had a PSA around the 10:00 PM hour, "It is now 10:00 PM. Do you know where your children are?".

Nope, didn't take it the wrong way. I just want to make sure that folks are clear where my irritation lies with these sorts of politicians. They often use inflated or "cooked" numbers, along with tugging at specific groups' heartstrings (like young mothers, college students or senior citizens) to support gun control...while making statements like the piece above. It makes them seem that they only want "common sense laws" and that they really care...maybe on some level, some of them do...but like I said before: either they are ignorant, or they are evil, and I lean to the latter. They COULD get educated on firearms, but most simply won't.
